In yesterdays Cub Notes section, Mike Kiley took great pains to describe what the Cubs needed in their pursuit of the playoffs this year. He mentions that they shouldve kept Moises Alou, that he "probably" wouldve taken the minimum
to stay here, and that the everyone in the cubs clubhouse "respects" him,
and that theyd like to see nothing more than to see a trade to have him back
here in a cubs uniform. Kiley immediately goes into Cubune mode and says
that Dusty wont say anything, because it is against MLB rules. This guy
is the Mike Murphy of print journalism, and is a schmuck.

Well, if nothing else, it's not as blatant as when the Cubune was writing stories last July about how welcome Her-knee-ya would be on the north side.

Handsome Mike has also "recruited", in the past week, Austin Kearns and Preston Wilson, and today he added Mark Kotsay. What a ******* tool.

Sure they respect him, they just won't shake his hand.

That is nothing but a load of garbage. Everything I've heard is that Moisty Alou was nothing but an anus, on and off the field. Always showing up late before the game, bitching to the umps about everything, and whining how they were all out to get him. Most reporters would probably say, off the record of course, that him and The Wife Beater were 2 of the biggest cancers in that clubhouse.

But I thought Austin Kearns was Darth Vader in baseball spikes! :redneck

I thought being a reporter meant you were REPORTING NEWS.
Mike Kiley has been a CHEERLEADER, GEN MGR, Covers up information,
Plants information, and is generally a propoganda manager, not a reporter.

But he IS a reporter. Just a week or two ago, he REPORTED that Mark Prior was likely going to be out until August. When that turned out not to be the case, ol' Mike just noted that it was reported by "some" in the media that he might be out until August.

Gutsy, insightful, incisive, reporting. That's Mike Kiley!

Just reinforces my deep and everlasting hatred of all things Cub.

The Cubs do need an entirely different outfield...

And an entirely different bullpen...

And 2 starting pitchers...

And a leadoff man...

No one player, especially Moises Alou, will put this team over the top. Fortunately for Flubs fans, Hendry recognizes that his team needs to get younger. It's almost a shame that a guy like Mike Kiley isn't the Cubs GM, because then we would never even have to worry about them reaching .500.

boers and Burnstien mentioned how close Kiley and (I forgot his name, but the sports editor for the cubune) are to the cubs
