View Full Version : Where Will Pitching Help Come From?

With El Duque down (hopefully only for a while) and Viz out for the count, I am worried about the lack of minor league support for our pitching staff.

McCarthy is not ready and not other minor league starter is on the near horizon. (NOTE: Our farm system has producted only one member of our current pitching staff--Buehrle). Atkins and Stewart are less than 5 starter quality.

We might have one reliever at Charlotte (Jeff Bajenaru), but that is about it. Kenny Williams has done a great job of assembling a staff through trades and free agency. It would sure be nice if our minor league system could provide a couple of major league ready pitchers every year.

Uh, go take a look at Zito's last 300 innings. Not so good.

I don't know of any team that has a minor league system that provides 2 major league ready pitchers every year.

That said, KW always seems to pull something out of the air that no one's expecting or speculated on. That's the fun of it all I suppose.

its not like el duque has been that great anyway, his stats are terrible (excluding his w/l :) ). I think this team will be able to survive while we wait for el duque.

Why not raid the Reds? Aaron Harang is a nice, young pitcher with lights out stuff that could really thrive in this atmsophere. And if they wanna throw in Randa while they're at it........
