Hey, no disrespect to the current wave of love for the WSI "official" song, but that song by Pall Mall is AMAZING! Now if any song is screaming for a kick-a$$ remake, this is it!

I mean, how can't you love a line like..."Come with me, to the South Side of Chicago!"

Any thoughts?

"Go-Go-Sox" by Pall Mall and the Bleacher Boys (http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/SoxSounds.htm)!

Send this song to every Cub fan you know because we're going to sweep those clowns next weekend. Wonderful song, love those jazz riffs. Someone has to put out a CD of Sox music from through the years. I guess the North Sider's song is Teddy Bears on Parade.

Great song!

I first heard a segment of it about 30 years ago on WFMT's Midnight Special program. I recorded it off the radio and never knew any more about it until I found that the mods had a *full* copy of it here.

There's a fascinating history of that song and the creaky little record label that released it. You can read it at this link (http://hubcap.clemson.edu/~campber/seymour.html). The lead singer was an emcee at one of the smoky strip joints on South State Street and the percussionist was beating on a box. Y'gotta love it!

Steve Dahl used to play it on his radio program, which is the only place I ever heard until I found it on WSI.

Thanks for the link. Wonderful story about the Seymour label. I never knew about the label or the fact that Seymour's Record Mart was the precursor to Jazz Record Mart. Let's hope that JRM is around for many many years. It's one of the great treasures of Chicago.

It really is a great story. 10-4 on the Jazz Record Mart too! I can spend hours in there just browsing around in there and wishing I had more money in my pocket.

JRM is one of those places we'll miss when it's gone, so if you enjoy jazz & blues and you haven't been there before, check it out!

Well, Pall and and Boys did get played between innings last night. I love the boogie woogie piano in the background.
