I'm sure many of us are going to the "throwback uniform" game tomorrow- I can't wait! However, I noticed on the press release that Luis Aparicio won't be there at the pregame ceremony.

Does anyone know why? Has anyone heard that he's sick or anything? It's kind of unusual that he won't be there, considering his face is on the outfield wall. Plus, he did go the 2003 All-Star game here. I'm sure the fans would love to see him!

Maybe he's too busy doing whatever he does in Venezuela.

Someone said something about him being involved in a baseball team over there.

Aparicio will be in town the following week, appearing at the big sports show at the Rosemont Expo Center signing autographs. Maybe he just couldn't get into town on two consecutive weekends.

Sports Illustrated had a story a month or so ago about the issues troubling Venezuela and how it is affecting their athletes. It had pictures of both Aparicio and Carrasquel. The story said Luis is again managing a Venezuelan team.

Now I don't know when their season is but perhaps that is the reason.
