The White Sox could be the frontrunners for reliever Jim Brower, who was released by the Giants, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. The Twins and Braves are also interested in the pitcher.

Here's his stats. I never heard of the guy.

Ok, do the Sox want a guy who was released by the Giants, who are desperate enough for relievers to trade more-than-decent prospects for LaTroy Hawkins?

Very good point. That's a little scary

The guy reporting this is the same dope that said the Sox were looking to trade AJ before the season started due to his poor attitude.

Dead on again!

Braves signed RHP Jim Brower for the remainder of the season.
The Braves think they can turn the slider specialist around, and there's a good chance they're right. Brower will probably replace either Blaine Boyer or Jorge Vasquez in the pen. Since he's unlikely to turn into a candidate for saves, he doesn't need to picked up in NL-only leagues right now. Maybe he'll have a little value later on.

I remember Brower being the starting pitcher in the third game of the 3 game sweep in Cleveland around this time in 2000. He's still out on the mound at the Jake trying to get someone out after suffering a severe case of whiplash from turning to watch balls go out of the park.

He can fill in for Prior and Wood. After today's 15-5 lashing, he'll fit in. Call Hendry.
