7 ER in 3.2 IP. Soon he will be 5-4 with a 4.68 ERA.

In other crappy pitcher news, Koronka was demoted to Iowa . . . unfortunately.

Juan Encarnacion 2 run homer off Wellemeyer.
10-0

Nice! Looking at the boxscore it seems to be a pretty windy day, so that will more than likely be the excuse for his rough outing.

Cabrera just kills the flubbies. Which is completely fine with me!

To be fair, Wellemeyer gave up the three-run homer. Yeah, Maddux put the two runners on so he gets credit for the ER but you know what I'm saying...

Still, not a good outing, even without those two runs.

I bet that ESPN is wishing they would've had yesterdays game as opposed to todays game!

Total payback for yesterday, huh? What a strange series. Marlins club Cubs. Cubs club Marlins. Marlins club Cubs. Strange.

I'm glad Koronka or whatever got sent down with the Sox recent success against pitchers they've never seen before.

Since today's game is pretty much a forgone conclusion, there's an interesting side note. On this 9 game home stand, God's Chosen Team will go 4-5. I wonder what all the media wonks and fans of Cub-Dumb think about that, since, according to them, the previous 2 weeks were the "Beginning of the Cubs resurrgance", and had turned things around. They also have to go into Yankee Stadium this weekend, and face Randy Johnson & Carl Pavano.

"From the Cubicle" is saying that Cabrera just bounced one off the lip of the baskets. Burnitz digs a ball out of the ivy and throws it in. Then another ball falls out of the ivy and the umps have a chat.

Anyone know whats going on?:dunno:

BTW, 12-0 now.

It would be typical for the Trib to claim that the wind only blew out when the Marlins were batting. The cubs only have 3 hits so far. At this rate, the final score will be about 20-0.

I won't be happy until they sink below .500.

This new guy the Cubs just brought up, Rich Hill, had compared himself to Sandy Koufax & Barry Zito prior to the game. He's pitching now, and has given up 3 doubles, so at this point, (Bill Lumberg voice): I'm gonna have to go ahead and DISAGREE with that.

Ball hit the basket or the wall, and as Burnitz went to dig it out of the poison ivy, another ball fell out of it. So, the ball that Burnitz threw back may not have even been the ball that was hit. Also, he made such a horrible attempt at the catch, McKeon thought at first that it was a homer. Didn't matter, the guy scored anyway.

I'm sorry but after comparing yourself to one of the greatest pitchers of all time before throwing one pitch in the majors, you deserve to get pounded. Heck, even a Barry Zito comparison is pretty bold.

Hi Homefish!

Heh heh heh...During that 5 run Cubs 7th, Andy Mazer (sp ?) said a funny thing, even though I don't think he meant it as such- "That run is the 5th scored this inning, and that pulls the Cubs to within 10 of the Marlins"
If the Cubs are gonna score at any time, that's a good thing to hear the announcer say.

Print up the game chat on chicagosports.com and hand it to the next idiot who tells you that cubs fans don't care about the Sox.

Today's Cubune headline "Another Sox starter drilled."

Here's a comparison of the past six games runs allowed...

Cubs
6/15 15
6/14 0
6/13 1
6/12 8
6/11 6
6/10 6
total: 36 runs

Sox
6/14 10
6/13 8
6/12 5
6/11 2
6/10 2
6/8 5
total: 32 runs

Damn, that Cubbie pitching is great and that Sox pitching stinks!

So, do you think the Cubune will call-out pitching tomorrow?

Well today was a pretty good day regarding the Cubs. Firstly, my Cubs' fan brother was at the game to watch them get shelled, though I was hoping for a margin of 11+. Secondly, a day after hearing my friend brag about the Cubbies' offensive outburst yesterday, I called him to make sure he was watching today (the score was 8-0 I think). He hung up immediately.

This was a great game to attend. I spent a lot of time standing up and cheering while collecting a lot of dirty looks from the scrub fans.

Maddux is something less than what he used to be, so bad outings are more frequent now. However, he never makes excuses for a poor performance.
