Hey all. I have some groundbreaking but good news about the White Sox home alternate jerseys. As we all know, the Sox began wearing vests with black undershirts in 1999. In 2002, they replaced the vest with a faux-vest (a regular jersey with attached black sleeves). As some of you may have realized, the Sox havent worn the "vest" jerseys yet this year. They have not been eliminated. Now, to the big news:

The Sox are going back to actual vests with black undershirts rather than fake vests.

Proof
1. Yesterday I found a Wilson Valez team issued 2005 jersey on Ebay. It obviously was made before the season and never worn. It had the tagging at the bottom with "05", and had the Majestic logo on the left shoulder (which they began doing to vests this year). It was sleeveless.

2. At the park yesterday, I say a rack of sleeveless vests at the HOF giftshop behind homeplate. They were all new - they all had the Majestic logo on the left shoulder.

3. Today I found that they are selling the sleeveless vests again on the Sox website.

Therefore, I have discovered that not only are the Sox not eliminating the home alternate jersey, they are wisely going back to actual vests instead of fake vests.:bandance:

How is that for sleuth work.:redneck

A higher-up with the SOX told me they'd be doing this, but I didnt believe
it. WOW. Im not a fan of teams wearing vests, mostly because its being overdone ............ but the SOX are one of the only teams who LOOK GREAT
in the vests. the color schemes work perfectly and I was ready to go and
get one when I saw they went to the very GENERIC and Cut-rate looking
sewn on sleeve look. Brutal. Cheers to the SOX for fixing a dumb mistake
they truly do look good in the vest.

Hangar, what high-up with the Sox would still talk to you after the way you keep prank calling Reinsdorf?

Did you hear any other news from the high-up?

They sell a lot of things that they don't acutally wear during the games, I'm not convinced.

The difference is this is an authentic game jersey. They sell fashion jerseys in crazy colors, but they arent tagged as authentic unless they are fake (see: blue '83 Fisk jerseys on Ebay). Also, it isnt like they had some of these jerseys lying around for a few years. They had the Majestic logo on the left sleeve, so they are new for this year.

Anyone know why Majestic is puting their logo on the shoulder of the vests? Why cant they put their logo on the sleeve of the undershirt so it looks normal?

Did you actually talk to the higher-up, or did your cousin overhear a sox-higher up talking on his cell phone at an airport?

Well, players used to have to wear team undershirts made by majestic. Most players did at first, except big shots like Ken Griffey Jr. (he always wore long sleeves, usually tight underarmor without the team patch). Many teams had patches on the t-shirts, but most have stopped because in the last few years, players started wearing regular t-shirts and not the team issued ones. I guess they decided that not enough players were wearing the t-shirts with Majestic logos and patches, so they eliminated them and put the logos on the shoulder. When Russell made all the jerseys before 2000, they put their logo on the collar of vests (where the MLB logo now stands).

Most players are now wearing these god awful Nike undershirts with gaudy white stitching around the sleeves, and therfore, we have all but seen the end of sleeve patches on t-shirts. There are a few Bucko shirts remaining in Pittsburgh, but KC and Cincy have nixed their patches. That is especially bad for Cinncinnati. Running Man is the best logo in sports!

Is there a nice blazer to go with this vest?

Just kidding, some teams vestswork better than others. This is nice, especially since it says "Sox"!

Yeah that makes sense. Those spandex long sleeve undershirts look awful.

 I'd still like to see a new version of the 1970 UNI (Check your 1970 Topps Ed Herman card) with a SOX logo (like the current script) but with no pinstripes.....much like the Indians and Rangers home Sunday jersey's......:D:

How's this?
http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbulletin/attachment.php?attachmentid=2827

I made this in photoshop a few weeks ago and posted it here. I also think it would look nice to have a jersey without stripes for a change of pace. Right now our vest is exactly the same as the regular home jersey.
