he also threw out the first pitch tonight.

Broadway, the 15th overall pick in the 2005 First-Year Player Draft, signed on the dotted line Monday, receiving a $1.57 million signing bonus. Broadway made it clear during a conference call after his somewhat surprising selection that he would quickly be in the fold with the White Sox, and proved to be a man of his word.

It was also announced that he will report directly to High-A Winston-Salem.

With Gio and Harrell both pretty deserving of promotion and Tyler Lumsden ready to come off the DL in a short while, there are going to have to be a bunch of moves made here shortly...

No... the sad part was he lollipoped an out side (to a lefty) pitch that bounced in front of the plate.

I've seen people get out of wheel chairs and throw a first pitch better than that.

No doubt. Lumsden will need to start off in the pen, but Broadway reportedly will be piggybacking right off the bat, so they'll need to clear some space in the rotation at W-S. Dizard can go back to the pen, but Rodriguez actually has been pitching pretty well lately after a rough start. Are any of the other 3 ready to move up to the Barons? Haeger's still pretty young, and Whisler is just off a DL stint. Haigwood perhaps? That would set off another chain reaction in B'ham and maybe Charlotte.

Whatever they do, it will get real interesting real soon.

You know the prospects better than I do, but why would Harrell deserve a promotion over Liotta? Looking at the stats, Harrell has had control problems (36 BB in 58.2 IP) that he probably needs to work out before being promoted, while Liotta has done just about nothing wrong.

Doh, I meant Liotta, sorry.

Haeger probably. Whisler needs to pitch more innings and improve his consistency, but he could be a target for a call-up based on stuff and physical maturity, but I'd like to see him get a bunch more starts...

Haigwood and Rod aren't ready for promotions yet, IMO.

One thing the Sox do well is sign guys with cool names...Robin Ventura, Ray Lioitta, Royce Ring and now Lance Broadway. I hope he does better than past #1 draft picks. We haven't had someone that was a major contibuter to the team since the late 80's and 90 with Mcdowell, Ventura, Thomas and Fernandez with some minor pop from Liefer and Ginter.
