Nice quote from Phil Nevin from MLB.com's pregame. Maybe when we sweep them he'll use it as a "measuring point."

"We don't use this as a measuring point. At our best, we've swept teams like Atlanta, Florida, won three of four in St. Louis. I don't think they're better than those teams." -- Padres first baseman Phil Nevin on the White Sox after Chicago beat the Padres, 4-2, on Friday night

Hey Nevin- shut up and sit down- you were out!!!!

Lets kick this guys ass all over the field and then he can reassess his opinion of the AL. Didn't the Indians just take 2 of 3 over them also? I would just shut up about the AL cuz they still have to go on the road against them.

Who cares. Who cares. Who cares.

The thing I like about this Sox team is they just flat out don't care about what other people say. I wish WSI would take their cue from the players.

EDIT: This isn't a rip on anyone specifically...it is just annoying (to me at least) to see thread after thread about some analyst, player, or ex-player who doesn't think the Sox are good.

Agreed. But the fact that the White Sox aren't dominating every type of sports-media-related-material sticks in alot of Sox fans craw's.

I understand. But to me, it's stupid. Who cares what kind of coverage we get? When we hopefully clinch the division, we'll get coverage. When we hopefully win the Pennant, we'll get coverage. When we hopefully win a Championship, we'll get coverage and t-shirts. That's all that really matters (winning). Not our highlight package for an early June game or what some dumbass ex-player thinks about a team he watches once a month. None of that crap matters whatsoever, yet it seems to be all we can talk about around here.

Who he? David Niven should look at the standings. The Sox home and away records. The division and the games against the NL this year. If he still don't get it he never will. WE DON'T CARE.

Maybe Phil Nevin needs to watch the video of the game last night; he might see how the Sox made the Padres look like a listless, lifeless ball club.

The Padres have been doing a pretty good job of playing their own version of Corpseball the last couple weeks, laying down for the Cubs, Indians, and now the Sox with their suddenly anemic offense.

Nevin can go screw for all I care. Let's see if he's running his mouth after they get swept.

Isn't this a oxymoron? Nevin just contradicted himself, if we beat the Pads then we must be better than the other teams he mentioned. I sure hope we sweep this series.

:?: Earth to Phil, I understand if we arent a measuring point because we are an AL team, but to say we aren't better than Atlanta (31-29) and Florida (30-28) who couldn't even beat you once, which we all ready have? :bs:

Exactly, who cares! The guy got into an argument with an umpire and was robbed of a hit at the end of the game on a web gem by Crede. Nevin's just a sore loser. Sure they've beaten some decent teams, but they also lost 3-4 handidly to the Scrubs. If Jake Peavy ever struggles, their rotation and division chances are in serious trouble.

HA! These NL teams have a huge advantage now and for a guy like Nevin to talk **** now, wait till he has to come to the south side when we have the advantage. Put whatever NL bench guy in that lineup instead of the pitcher and we'll stick Frank or Carl in there.

Along those lines, when the Sox and Padres met in Chicago back in 2003, the Sox took two of three games from San Diego.

I've been reading journal articles on that particular disease. The prognosis for patients over the age of thirty isn't good.
