View Full Version : Wierd ending to Cal St. Fullerton-ASU game

Did anybody watch the end of this game on ESPN2? It ended about 1/2 hour after the Sox game. What happened was, with no outs in the bottom of the ninth inning in a 2-2 tie with runners on first and third, Arizona St. intentional walked the CSF hitter to load the bases but the umpire called a balk and CSF won the game. The announcers couldn't figure out why he called the balk. They were thinking that he called it because the pitcher went to his mouth while he was still on the mound, but he was scratching his nose. He didn't come set for too long, but it was long enough. Arizona St. got screwed, no way should a game end like that, especially in the postseason. Granted, they probably would have lost anyway (bases loaded nobody out, CSF at home) but it is a horrible way to lose a game, on an umpire deciding it. I was just wondering if anybody else saw the game or the highlights and what they thought of it.
