Why is Jesse Crain so good? His K-BB ratio isn't very good (11-7). He's got a great WHIP, but why? Is he a sinker baller?

5-5, top of 8.

He's a hard thrower; he can get his fastball in the high '90's, and has been known to hit 100 mph. He has a good curve and a good slider. He used to have control problems at times, but he seems to have put that behind him now. He was a closer for the Twins' AAA club, and would be a candidate to move into that role for the Twins if anything ever happens to Nathan.

Is there anyone watching the game who can tell the rest of us what happened to Stewart's hand/wrist? HBP? Fielding? And how serious?

I know it's proper etiquette to say "I'd never wish an injury on a player", but this is one time I'm really tempted to use teal.

I know how I can get my teal fix: "I'm sure Minnesota fans felt really bad when the Sox lost both Maggs and Frank last season."

There, that feels better!

There was a fly ball to left. Stewart went back and caught the ball about 10 feet from the wall, but he didn't make a great catch. Rather than catching the ball in the webbing of his glove, he caught it in the palm of the glove. Trying to make sure he didn't drop it he twisted and didn't fully stop in time. He wound up smashing into the wall and injuring his wrist. It was bad enough that Lew Ford replaced him in the field, but I don't know how severe the injury is.

Runners on 3rd, 2 outs for the Dodgers. Come on ex-Sox Olmedo Saenz!

Saenz just walked. 1st and 3rd with 2 out for Izturis.

Damn. A little nubber down the third base line is fielded by Rincon and he tags Repko coming down the line. 3 outs.

It's Game Over Gagne time! Hold em and win it in the bottom half.

He made a great running catch but ran into the left field wall pretty hard. I'm not sure if it was his wrist, shoulder or hip that got hurt but it was a rough hit.

Go-ahead run at 3rd base for three straight innings, and couldn't get the job done. They could use a patented walk-off moon shot by Manos. Too bad...:(:

Gagne mows them down 1-2-3. Bottom 9th and the Dodgers have Choi, Drew and Kent coming up. Not sure who will pitch for the Twins. Rincon was lifted for a pinch-hitter. Well, as I get ready to submit this I see it's Terry Mulholland. Time to end it, Dodgers.

You know the Sox players were watching this Twins loss in the clubhouse. I wish I was there to watch their explosion as they celebrated a Hee Seop Choi walkoff. They're partying tonight. Leave Buehrle home though. :D:

The Twins have to be getting quite frustrated now. The MLB-best Chicago White Sox just keep winning.

To be fair, I'm sure the Twins message boards had a field day with the Pauly/Uribe flap, and are just waiting for a playing time-related snit by Frank.

The Twins have to be getting quite frustrated now. The MLB-best Chicago White Sox just keep winning. The Twninks will not quit or go away. They beat us on the night we clinched our last division title. We partied in the Baggie Dome, but after a loss. And, the Great Foulke Meltdown the next May started them off on a streak they've never come back from. They think they own us. And they will believe that until we beat them down. They will not just go away.

Since we're bringing up past indignities, don't forget the final three games of the 2002 season. In a meaningless series for them (they had long ago clinched the division), they swept the Sox with eighth-inning home runs on three straight days. In the process, they prevented Buehrle from winning #20, and kept both Garland and the team from finishing above .500 on the year.
