I realize that, being a Tribune Co. publication, many of you may not read Chicago Magazine. Do yourselves a favor and steal/borrow/browse the July issue and flip to page 95. There's a charming profile of White Sox PR staffer Katie Kirby, who not only has what may be the most wonderful job in the world, but is none too hard on the eyes either. How does this girl not have a boyfriend? Maybe because all of the guys who approach her are crazed WSI types, which would be unsettling.

Also, elsewhere in the issue, there's an amusing interview with Gooch, where he talks about living in Arlington Heights and using a combination toilet/bidet that he ordered out of the Chicago Japanese Yellow pages.

Sometimes you have to wonder if the team's translator doesn't just like to screw with the interviewers.

Katie is a sweetheart...I can vouch for that. Everytime I covered a Sox game, she was very polite, cordial, and knowledgeable about what was going on. I've even debated with her about a couple of topics, and she's pretty sharp.

I had a Phillipino roommate in college and all HE talked about was his freakin' bidet. The kid loved it. Without sounding too grose, but because he was in a fraternity house and there was no bidet. Everytime there was a #2 he took a shower right after it.

I had a roomate once who was made of clay. Sure, it has nothing to do with this thread but I figured I should throw it out there.

EDIT: Damn, I should have read the whole first post as well.

Whoa.

The July issue content isn't up on the ChicagoMag.com website, so you'll have to be patient. Or go find an actual copy of it at your nearest bookstore or newsstand.

Overrated.

I cannot understand why someone would say this thread is sad. Look at most of the magazines, movies etc. that are produced in this country. They are devoted to the male (and female) desire to look at beautiful people.

And for you people who are above this desire and would like us to get a hobby, have fun planting tomatoes.

The saving grace of this entire thread...the silver cloud, if you will, of this entire debacle:

Brooks Boyer's Inbox is probably 50% less full today since everyone here spent their weekends emailing Katie instead.

On the South Side, we don't have ball girls. I think they're both pretty generic-looking, but I only date supermodels.

Yeah, I noticed her right away. She was on the far right. Can't say I see what all the hoopla is all about. Ugly no, attractive? Just not my type I guess. I'm glad the Sox don't have that other older lady with the curly hair. I saw her at Soxfest all the time. She is usually around guest relations, but I haven't seen her in awhile.
