View Full Version : Sandberg says Padres win 2 of 3

Yahoo! Sports - MLB - The Cycle: For future reference (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=rs-cycle061005&prov=yhoo&type=lgns)

I wrote him the following response:

Did you bother even looking at the pitching match-ups for the White Sox/Padres series? If you did you would realize that the Sox have their best 3 starters going (Garland, Buehrle, Garcia)and the Padres their bottom 3 (no Peavy, no Eaton). Plus Petco is a pitchers park and Ozzie's "small ball" will work there. Yes the Padres are 20-10 at home, but they were 16-4 at one point and have been struggling (at home) against the Cubs and Indians...and the Sox offense has come to life winning 7 of the last 9 games... Sox will win 2 of 3, even possibly sweep.

To his credit, he did say this could be a World Series preview :D:

sandberg needs to get his head out his ass and actually do some research before he does something stupid...again

Who cares? It's very possible the Padres will win 2 of 3. Not likely, but possible. Buy why even waste time with it?

I think Sandberg lost a few brain cells along with his hair. I sure wish Yahoo still had Blackjack's columns instead of Suckberg.

This is why entrance into the hall of fame does not take online baseball analysis into account.

Or he lost them both worrying about Rafeal Palmeiro.

He's a former Cub, what could you expect, for him to make a logical and smart guess? Don't think so.

Another brilliant statement from Ryno: "Yankee Stadium is the only park I haven't been to as a fan, but it is definitely at the top of my list."

It wouldn't surprise me if they won 2 out of 3. They're probably the best team in the NL. We don't play well on the west coast. The pitching match ups favor us but you never know.

If they do take 2 out of 3, this place will be real pleasant this weekend.

He's just stating his opinion. Why get riled up over it? It's fine if you don't agree with him, but no need to jump over him for it. When was the last time the White Sox won a series on the west coast? I can't remember... I like the matchups are in our favor, and we will probably take the series. Nothing is guarenteed though...

The Padres are 10 over at home and the Sox are 10 over on the road so that stat is a wash. They are a good team and it would be great to get 2/3 and rub it in his face...not that I'll remember this in 3 days.

From looking at all his previous "expertise" this year, I think Sandberg picking the Padres to win the series bodes very well for our Sox!

So Sandberg has a new gig predicting the future these days? Great! He has about as much credibility as this guy...

I've noticed a pattern with Rhyne's predictions...whenever 2 good teams are playing (unless one of the teams is in a funk, like the Marlins) he always predicts that the home team will win 2 of 3. Don't read too much into what this bozo says. He's a sub-par, lazy analyst and wouldn't have a job without his name recognition (well, I guess that sums up most baseball analysts).

I checked Sandberg into a hotel room once in downtown Chicago when I was working at the Seneca.

He didn't know anything then either.

The thing that worries me is that a 20-plus strong contingent from the Windy City Sox Fans are in San Diego for this series, and I know at least a couple of people in that group can drink any of the Sox under the table at the hotel bar after the games.

Really, who cares? We've been hearing that we will falter and fail all season long. Why are you guys acting like this is new? The Sox will take care of buisiness, no worries.

Sandberg did say at the beginning of the year the AL wild card probably would come from the AL Central, and everybody laughed. KC swept the Yankees, it wouldn't be a shock if SD took 2 out of 3 .

I have a master's degree in psychology and all I can tell you is that stupidity spreads faster than you can imagine. It's contagious to the mentally weak. Hence the sellout crowds at Wrigley Field.

When did Utah, Nevada, and California (the three states west of Colorado) sink into the Pacific?LMAO!! I have seen joke maps out here that have California, Nevada and the rest of the country as East Coast (unfortunately, many Californians don't realize is a joke). Maybe this guy has one that has Iowa, Illinois and Indiana with West Coast and East Coast on either side. :redneck

Cmon give this loser a break, if you played in front of 30,000 idiots 81 times a year for ten seasons it would have to wear on you eventually. There is a lot of stupid baseball being spoken about at that dump and it has to soak in over time. Either way, the fans sucks, the team sucks and Ryno sucks.

Since his name came up for hall nomination he's been doing little things to keep his name in the papers. He had his radio gig when Mariotti still had a show (Sandburg being the only person with less personality than Mariotti on the radio I'll tell you). Now he does this. In a year he'll go back to being retired and we'll not hear from him till his name comes up for a coaching position.

As for any specific comments, who cares, an analyst has never impacted a game.

A lot of people think WSI's Wiz is the same person as WGN's Wizzo. But it's not.

It's Marshall Brodien. (And I've got the TV Magic Cups to prove it.)

Give Ryno some credit. From her picture at the time of the wedding, his second wife appears to be a beautiful, refined and elegant lady. He didn't get fooled twice. Broadcast skills? A different matter.
