Come on Fen, The Red Sox are the World Champions! They must play like it right here right now! If the Flubs win even one, ONE!, game, their fans will yell from the rooftops that they beat the WORLD CHAMPIONS.

Who do we have to call to make it happen? The Flubs' Bullpen?

After seeing the NYY, Orioles, Anaheim, and now this disgusting showing by the Red Sox, the only team that truly scares me, as a Sox fan, is Minnesota.

And Oakland when we play them in OAK.

Also, when did David Wells get rid of that #3 and switch to #16?

He did it a couple weeks ago. Renteria's number was #3 but that was taken when he came to the Red Sox, so he took #16. When Wells started sucking, I guess he figured he was a disgrace to Ruth's number so he gave it back to Renteria.

The Twins are the Wild Card team this year. If not, then it is either the Angels or Rangers (the other one takes the West) The O's will win the East.

More and more it is looking like the WC will come from the Central.

I keep waiting for Baltimore to fall but if they don't the fight for the East title may go down to the last weekend.

http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/standings/wildcard

The Red Sox have been VERY quiet about Schilling and now they have to admit they miss Pedro. What concerns me is that as bad as NYY has been playing, Boston still only has a 3 game lead on them. NYY has to get better.

But as much as it might pain you to do so it IS in the White Sox's best interest to root for the Cubs against Boston and NYY.

By Dan Shaughnessy, Globe Columnist | June 11, 2005

CHICAGO -- Long into the Second City night, legions of Red Sox fans had their fun in gin joints and deep-dish emporiums along Grant Park, Michigan Avenue, and Rush Street. They toasted Boston's Boys of Summer '04 and taunted the locals about a Cub championship drought that dates back to the Teddy Roosevelt administration. Bully.

But Red Sox Nation's midnight, Midwest bacchanalia could not dim the memory of the carnage it witnessed in the first game the Sox ever played in storied Wrigley Field.

Meeting for the first time since Sept. 11, 1918, the Cubs destroyed the Red Sox, 14-6, on a steamy afternoon. It was hardly revenge for Boston's World Series win all those years ago, but it silenced Boston's road-trippers and fueled fears that the defending champs might be unraveling.

TaylorStSox
06-11-2005, 02:22 PM
The Red Sox are our competition. The Cubs are just a team in the NL. The 2 best teams are in the Central. While we beat up on eachother, one of the East teams might sneak into the Wildcard. So, I want everyone in the hunt for the wildcard to lose.

I think we'll be in the race all year but the Twins are a good team. It's only June 11. Some of you may be counting your chickens before they hatch. I'm not being pessimistic at all. I'm being realistic. One injury to our rotation and we could be in trouble. Our bullpen isn't that deep and McCarthy isn't ready. If that pitcher went down after July 31st we'd be in a heck of alot of trouble.

No thanks. I'd just assume they were 20 games under .500 by the All-Star break.

I'm ALREADY sick of hearing the endless stories about how great they are cause they've cracked .500 and are "at the top of the Wild Card standings" (with about 7 other teams) with only 100 games left to play.

Didn't take long for Shaughnessy to laugh at Cubs management

http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2005/06/11/its_easy_to_get_lost_in_the_hype/?page=full

In a dramatic demonstration of cluelessness, the Cubs selected California-born hockey player Chris Chelios to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Former Bulls center Will Perdue must have been busy.

Amazing. This day called for Ernie Banks and Yaz. Or maybe Don Zimmer and Don Baylor. Or even Grady Little and Bill Buckner. Mike Maddux? Bill Murray? Neil Armstrong? Just about anyone would have been more appropriate than a locked-out Detroit Red Wing.

It went downhill from there for the bold Boston masses who spent hundreds (thousands?) to see their beloved Sox play their first game inside the ivy walls.

But there were no obvious fistfights and the rival fan bases seemed to be getting along fabulously, despite the rout and the sauna-like conditions.

The owner of the Red Sox was amazed at the lack of ads in Wrigley
Watching the Sox take batting practice, low-talking Sox owner John W. Henry looked around and said, ''This really is a park. There's sort of a carnival atmosphere. And not much signage."

Unlike Fenway, which has taken on a NASCAR look during Henry's reign.

Wrigley beats Fenway in another important area: leg room. Architects in the City of Big Shoulders built a park that would comfortably seat folks 6 feet tall. The ever-resilient citizens of Sox Nation know that Fenway has leg room sufficient only for children, gymnasts, and jockeys.

"This kind of convergence of storied teams with cursed histories on this most blessèd patch of earth is the kind of spectacle that people around the world will tune in to watch me call, and it also makes me glad that I invented baseball in the first place. This is a game of epic proportions and may never be repeated. Whichever team scores more runs tonight will likely end up winning the game. Your lives would all be emptier without me here to remind you of things like that."

I withdraw the question. :(:
