How desperate is Washington for offense? Ohka was pitching well, if you look at the stats. And Vidro is coming back before the All-Star break. What was DC thinking? This trade seems to make very little sense.

I'll be curious to read Ball-Wonk's take...

Ohka was having problems with Frank Robinson. Looks like a good trade for the Nationals, Spivey isn't too bad.

That doesn't tell the whole story. The relationship between Ohka and Frank Robinson has been very shaky. It culminated with Ohka showing up Robinson in a recent game when Robinson went to the mound to pull Ohka. That pretty much sealed Ohka's fate. Show up the manager and you're gone.

ohka was real close to being a White Sox player last season.

Rickie Weeks will probably get called up. He is tearing it up in AAA.

Or maybe Bruce Levine's Willie Harris-for-Wes Helms deal is finally going through...

(maybe that shouldn't be teal) :o:

"Yup."

"And if Ohka had ever pulled that bull**** stunt with me, I'd kick his ****ing ass from the ****ing Dan Ryan to the ****ing Indiana border and back."

The Brewers had another motive in trading Spivey besides adding depth to their pitching. The strong play of infielder Brian Hall has kept the Brewers blue chip shortstop prospect, JJ Hardy sitting on the bench. Trading Junior Spivey who is off to a slow start (hitting only about .230 I think) will remove the logjam of infielders the Brewers have. Hall will now move over to 2B full time allowing JJ Hardy to play everyday at SS. Could be a good move for the Brewers if Hardy develops and Ohka helps out their pitching situation.

Rickie Weeks is expected to get called up after tonight's game. If he's available in your fantasy league, go grab him! He could have the biggest impact of any rookie this year. The Brewers aren't calling him up to sit. Weeks will likely start at 2B everyday with Bill Hall spending time at SS and 3B.

It works for the Brewers also because now they get a reliable fifth starter to fill the hole created after they demoted Gary Glover to AAA. That rotation is looking better and they get to bring up Weeks, that's a two-fer.
