Looks like our old buddy Carlos Lee bumped the other Lee out of the top spot for RBIs.

Fearless Prediction: Derrek Lee won't lead the NL in ANY of the 3 Triple Crown categories by the end of the season.

Specification: He will finish 2nd in RBI, 5th in BA, and 1st/2nd in HR.

That's a very hard award to win, you might be right.
I really don't care one way or the other, but I still have a soft spot in my heart for Derrek Lee. I don't really see him as a Cub yet. I still think of his clobbering of the Cubs in that Bartman game.

According to the Tribune he's already won it this year... you mean these things count the WHOLE season?

I have to agree with you there. I am sure Derrek Lee's BA will fall drastically (I wouldn't be surprised if he finishes below .300), but he should remain near the top in the HR and RBI categories, though I don't think he will lead either by season's end.

I've been saying this since everyone started talking about Lee's run at the Triple Crown. I don't believe he will lead the league in any of the three categories. He's obviously gonna have a good season and will most likely finish near the top of all three. But I expect Pujols will lead one or two of the categories. Dunn will be near the top in HRs and might lead the NL, if not all of baseball. El Caballo and Abreu will also give Lee a rough time.

I think that is going a little overboard. You know how hard it would be for him to finish under .300 at this point. We're a third of the way into the season and Lee's hitting .378. He has 82 hits in 217 ABs. If you assume that Lee will finish around 600 ABs, he could need as little as 100 hits in nearly 390 ABs. It will take an unbelievable slump for Lee to finish under .300. He's probably not going to hit .378 or anywhere near it, but I expect that he'll still finish near .335.

And they made sure to let the world know the Cubs are in Wild Card contention! I didn't know the race heated up this early in the season. Counting out a division title already Trib? Wow...
