Any update? Is it a significant injury?

He looked like he just didn't have it when he came in tonight.

He seemed to point to his shoulder when Herm came out to the mound. I hope he was just tired.

Sore left bicep, day-to-day.

Of course you never hope someone's injured, but at least this might explain his last few sub-par outings. There was a time earlier this season when we thought we had the Marte of 2003 back. Hopefully, a little bit of rest and he'll be fine.

His velocity was down today. I hadn't noticed that during his outings on the last homestand.

From the Tribune's recap game story:

"The only cause for concern came in the seventh when left-handed reliever Damaso Marte was pulled after throwing a ball to Todd Helton. Marte hurt his left biceps and was listed as day-to-day."

Marte was throwing 94-95 last sunday, so i wonder if this is really something that has been bothering him all season

It'd be a weird time for dead-arm period, but anything is possible.

I doubt that it has anything to do with a "dead arm". Dead arm periods usually stem from shoulder fatigue. Marte's biceps muscle was apparently strained, so it is just a normal injury. Hopefully, he'll be better soon with rest and treatment.

If this means a possible DL for Marte, then I wonder who will be on the way up?
Good time for Neil Cotts to get hot too!

No way this goes DL. But, yes, it is great that Neal is doing his thing!

If Marte goes down, Kevin Walker would probably come back, which I hope would not happen. I think they should give Arnie Munoz another shot if that happens.

I concur. Munoz wasn't all that bad out of the pen last year... as I recall.

Agreed, Munoz might be a better choice if this Marte injury is more serious than they think. Walker didn't show me much in his time here. However, in all fairness, he wasn't exactly getting regular work either.

Marte was only hitting 87mph on the gun last night so something is definitely screwy with his arm right now.
