He fell and broke his clavicle while unloading groceries, supposedly. (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2077547)

While this sucks for the Rockies, it looks to be a break for our Sox.

Clint Barmes is expected to miss at least three months with a broken clavicle, ESPN reports.
Barmes was hurt carrying groceries last night. Desi Relaford will take over as the Rockies' primary shortstop, making Luis Gonzalez the everyday second baseman until Aaron Miles returns. The Rockies will probably call up Tim Olson to serve as a backup. Barmes' injury should help Miles and Garrett Atkins, as they will get to be everyday players without interference from Relaford. It will hurt Todd Helton, who now figures to get even fewer RBI chances.

That's very unfortunate, as Barmes was looking like the NL ROY and an all star at the SS position. It makes the Rockies line up even weaker against the Sox this upcoming series..

Like missing Vlad in LA, Morneau in Minny, and CC the first go-round with the Tribe. The timing is pretty remarkable. Too bad for Barmes, I this he's gonna be great. Broke his clavicle carrying groceries? Good God.

Wow... I think you just walk helton every time at this point!

On a lighter note. Glad I traded Barmes about 2 weeks ago for Delgado!

I thought the same thing. Yes, it's been a charmed season so far.

Wish I had... thank God someone in our league just dropped Uribe...
Seriously, though, carrying groceries?

Sounds like he tripped and fell over something (a step?). Perhaps he had the groceries carried high and it blocked part of his vision.Lip

I believe him.

Do you have another theory that you would like to suggest?

This may improve Iguchi's shot at ROY

MLB gives out two different ROY awards, one for each league. Barmes was not Iguchi's competition.

Also, please check for previous threads. There was a thread about this halfway down the page.
