This is via Jim Cutler the voice of more radio and TV stations than even he can count

Yes it is the same voice that does WEEI, ESPN Radio, The Fan590 in Toronto, WGN-TV etc etc etc

Listening to that reminds me of something that's been bugging me all season: They mention "Black Sox" as if it was a team slogan.

Me too! The first time I heard it, I was shocked. It isn't like it is something to be proud of.

Great stuff!!!! All these years I've heard that voice on ESPN Radio, WGN-TV, Clear Channel Radio stations, etc., and I never knew his name until now, and I work in radio but never at any stations that use his voice-overs.

Where is the link on his site to the Sox Radio open other than on this thread? I searched his site looking for it on there as well as the new Braves Radio open with the Braves moving their radio flagship from WSB 750 to Clear Channel owned WGST 640 and WKLS 96.1 FM (96 Rock) in Atlanta. Can you also link the new Braves Radio open on here as well?

This isn't Jim Cutler's fault -- he just reads them, he doesn't write them. "Black Sox" was coined by the newspapers when the 1919 scandal broke.

I would imagine the text was written by someone at AM 1000, and I base that on the fact that sports radio usually has little (if any) clue about baseball history prior to the 1990s and the general overall weakness of the station's other promos (IMHO).

I'm pretty sure the White Sox front office avoids the use of "Black Sox"!

Well, I figured Cutler was just reading a script. ;)

I'm surprised the front office hasn't objected to the "Black Sox" reference, since the only thing it reminds most people of is the single biggest disaster in Sox history.
