Illinois lost to Iowa today in Champaign, but the Illini clinched the Big Ten championship by virtue of Purdue's loss to Indiana this afternoon in Bloomington.

The Illini really backed into that one. They lost seven of their last eight games and did everything in their power to blow a 4-game lead in the conference. They better wake up if they want to win the conference tournament.

Indiana is just a terrible team. I can't believe Purdue lost. I was certain Illinois would have to win its game in order to clinch.

"Itch" Jones could not have been happy with how his team played this weekend.

Good luck to the Illini but northern schools haven't fared well in the NCAA tournament for at least a generation.

Yep, the Illini tanked the last 2 weeks of the season and basically, nobody else wanted it.

Casey Rogowski's brother Ryan is on the Illini team, as is Toby Gardenhire, Twinkie's manager Ron's son. Chris Anderson, the Illini catcher, is about a 3rd round projected pick in the upcoming draft. He's probably the best college defensive catcher in the nation with top 10 round pick potential.
