I was watching the Braves Red Sox game on TBS and they had an interesting comment about how the Red Sox have had only 3 captains since the 60's.

I was wondering if the Sox were to name a captain on our current team, who would you guys consider worthy enough??

My choice would have to be Ozzie even though he's the manager. I think he's the glue that keeps this team together. What are your thoughts??

you don't need a captain when you got a manager like ozzie. the team is a reflection of him.

Joe Borchard. He owns part of Sox history with his patio blast and he represents the future with all his talents.....

Seriously, captains have no place in baseball. Leave that crap to hockey. There's a reason the Red Sox have only had 3 since the 1960s.

AJ Pierzynski.

Agreed. He is one of the reasons this pitching staff is where they are.

I think it was back in 1990 that Manager Jeff Torborg made Ozzie and Carlton Fisk co-captains. Doesn't anyone else have that baseball card?

If there isn't a consensus, then you know that there shouldnt be a captain.

Exactly. Plus look how ugly the jersey is if you put the "C" on it.

I would say Mark Buehrle, but he's not really the vocal type of guy. Carl Everett would probably be the most obvious choice, only because AJ has been there only two months. Paulie is so self absorbed with his swing that he doesn't seem like the big team guy.

Mark Buerhle...if not, go back in time and keep Robin Ventura...he would've been a good captain...

Right now - definitely Buehrle. Otherwise I would give it to Big Frank but he's not on the big club right now.
