From today's Prospectus Triple Play:

" This is bad--Al Bundy (http://www.bundyology.com/) credit card bill bad. Forty-one pitchers have better WXRL numbers than the entire Cubs bullpen. Chief among them is MLB leaderDustin Hermanson (http://www.baseballprospectus.com/pecota/hermadu01.php) whose 2.131 WXRL makes him almost four times as valuable as the entire Cubs bullpen."

Bring on Enrique Wilson!

Reliever's Wins expected above Average. It's a meausure (or estimate if you will) of the number of wins that a reliever has single-handedly added to a team's win/loss record based on the situations in which they have come in and what they have done in those situations. The higher the number, the more valuable the reliever has been to the team. They can't be whole numbers because a player's contribution to the number of wins is, if you wanted to quantify it, a non-round number.

I find any stat that says Hermanson is 4 times better than the Cubs entire bullpen to be utterly reliable.

Really? I don't think that is too much of a stretch...

I do think that Hermanson is 4 times better than any Cubs' reliever, though.
