I live in Crystal Lake and am lucky enough to subscribe to a local paper, The Northwest Herald, which is fairly non-biased. So far this year they have appropriately covered the red hot Sox more extensively than the Cubs.

Their current online edition has a web poll asking, “Who will you pull for in the upcoming series between the Cubs and White Sox?” Let’s show this paper that the Sox fans are not the small minority that we are constantly made out to be. A few hundred votes during the upcoming series are all that it will take to put the Sox on top.

Who knows, this may have an impact the coverage decisions of a paper with a daily circulation of around 40,000.

To vote, go to their homepage - http://www.nwherald.com (http://www.nwherald.com/). The poll is on the right hand side of the page. It doesn’t take a tremendous number of votes to make a big difference.

I'd think that would be for the on-the-fence "Chicago" fans.

Just out of curiousity, what point is there to misrepresenting the number of Sox fans out there?

I have a friend who interviewed for a job at the Herald. The editor, she told me is a big Sox fan. Apparently, he's a big Nellie Fox guy.

Don't take all of the fun out this. This is just a precursor to the fun we'll have over the weekend.

BTW 158-99 with my vote. :bandance::bandance:

In case you didn't realize this, there already is a misrepresentation in the media and the general Cub fan/non-baseball fan (who in most cases, are one and the same) public that "Nobody" likes the Sox and "Everybody" loves the Cubs.

Anyway, who ever said that Cub fans don't misrepresent these online votes any more that Sox fans by getting other Cub fans to vote too?

This site is awesome!!

Final tally 290-176. http://forum.nwherald.com/pollBooth.php?op=results&pollID=52 That has to have a few sports editors scratching their heads.

Interestingly, on Friday, May 20 I followed the link at the initial post and I get a poll asking "Is it right for Six Flags to refuse to allow convicted sex offenders at its amusement parks?"

Could they be talking about Wrigley Field? It is an amusement park!
