Great to see him back in action. I remember one time he struck out Babe Ruth on three pitches.

If he had been allowed to pitch Game 7 in 1986 as planned..the Curse would have been dead 19 years ago

But then Shaugnessy (Sp ??) wouldn't have written that book, HBO wouldn't have made that TV show narrated by Affleck, you wouldn't have had Reverse the curse ice cream, coffee, bug repellant, weed killer, etc.

good point

ARLINGTON, MA, April 2005 -To celebrate the world championship victory of the 2004 Red Sox, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Brigham's Ice Cream have teamed up to offer fans a double-header treat. Beginning today, visitors to the Hall of Fame who bring along a lid from Brigham's legendary Curse Reversed ice cream will receive a discount on the admission fee ($2.00 off adult admission and $1.50 off seniors and children ages 7-12). In addition, any member of the Friends of the Hall of Fame who visits a Brigham's restaurant and presents their FOHOF membership card will receive a free dish or cone of the incredibly popular ice cream. The offer runs through the entire 2005 baseball season

It's nice to see older players (Julio Franco, Rickey Henderson, Dennis Boyd) still in the game. I think it's both a testament to how well they take care of themselves, and also to the fact that hard work pays off. We live in an era where steroids, cheating, and taking the easy way out have become commonplace. I'm glad to see these athletes setting a positive example.

Obviously you've never heard of the Swing of the Quad Cities.

What was wrong with the River Bandits? My roomie lives in Milan and absoletuley hates that name, and I don't wonder why.

It's like the Mighty Ducks of Anahiem, except 10x worse.

I always thought The Quad City River Bandits was a pretty cool sounding name too. A whole lot better than the Lansing Lugnuts from my hometown (and go figure, their logo is a bolt, not a nut).

I've been a fan of Oil Can ever since the first time I saw him pitch (on tv). Something about his delivery and the nickname appeals to me. I wish him luck, but he'll get knocked around by ML hitters if he makes it that far.

It is suppose to be a play on the most famous citizen of Brockton, one Rocky Marciano

But it is your usual Mike Veeck, Bill Murray operation FUN IS GOOD

and they have a knack of promoting themselves

2 years ago they signed a DH for one game

Mr Biff Henderson
