BTW -- John Kruk's fat mouth is rubbing off on the Monday Night Baseball announcers on ESPN. Predictably, they lamented the small crowd size at White Sox games this year during the top of the eighth, and even hinted that the lack of noise from the small crowds contributed to some pitching calls that don't go the Sox's way.

Yes, they talked about the Cubs pulling in 40+K to their games.

Will this madness ever end?

I agree with the theory that both teams have the same number of hardcore fans - if all the bandwagon jumpers and Iowa tourists were kept out of Wrigley Field they would be drawing 17,000 for every game too.

If attendance is such a key to success, why haven't the Cubs been to a World Series since 1945 and it took over 30 years for them to plut back to back winning seasons together? The attendance issue is a phony one. It is time for the media to talk about something it knows about, if that is possible.

The true hallmark of a lazy sports journalist (or talking head) is to bitch about Sox attendance. Requires no actual work; just parrot the same talking points. That's why slobs like the Moron, Kruk, Giangreco and others always refer to it. Why take the time to do any work on an actual SPORTS story when you can carp about attendance and then leave work a few minutes early?
