Has anyone heard of a nickname for a starting rotation?

This one deserves one.

The first thing that comes to mind is "The Five Fingers of Death"...but that doesn't really work...

combined with our catchers, we could call the collective group the "Black Sheep Battalion"

black sheep
n. A member of a family or other group who is considered undesirable or disreputable.

bat·tal·ion
n. An army unit typically consisting of a headquarters and two or more companies, batteries, or similar subunits.

Our pitching staff consists of a high-round draft pick, two Cuban pitchers who weren't wanted in New York, one pitcher that WE didn't even want here, and Freddy Garcia.

Our catchers (or "batteries" if you will) include a guy who got shooed out of San Francisco for "a bad attitude" and a guy who was playing softball this time last year.

Not only does the name sound kinda neat imo, it totally fits as well.

That names fits well, but having anything "Black" associated with "Sox" is a little troubling. The Mediots would probably love it, because they can quickly segue back to 1919.

The last time we had a "Black" nickname, we coughed up a hairball in the ALCS (referring to Black Jack McDowell in 1993 of Coors)

How about something along the lines of "The Electric Co."? Our starters create electricity and drama with walks and runners on base but usually escape because they are "lights out"

Too much of a stretch?

STRETCH!

Yeah, let's base an ad campaign around them, too, like maybe:
"HOW'S THIS FOR STARTERS?"

....oh wait, that's been done....
I think I'd prefer if our guys kept "Flying Under The Radar".

Since we have 2 aces (Garland, Buehrle) and the rest 2's....Going along with the poker theme:

"Aces full of 2's"

The Black Sheep Squadron is one of the most interesting fighter squads in the US military. It's exploits are was the basis for the 1976 TV pilot "The Black Sheep Squadron" and was originaly option into the show "Baa Baa Black Sheep" which eventually changed names to "The Flying Misfits".

The real 8th Fighter Squadron (http://www.holloman.af.mil/49og/8fs.html) and it's formation is one of the greatest stories in WWII. The leader pappy boughinton is absolutely amazing http://www.acepilots.com/usmc_boyington.html.

The way I see ozzie is pappy and all the other sox are his black sheep.

The only problem is that they we're know for shooting zero's out of the sky.

Look out shingo.

We have twelve pitchers. Five starters and seven relievers. They're all kicking ass.

So...the dirty dozen.

The Five from '05

Great rotations are generally remembered from the year in which are at their best. I think this, or a variation of it, would be appropriate for this group
