Did anybody watch BBTN last night when they covered the sox? One of the analysts mentioned that the Sox had led in 35 straight games, but had not reached the record set by the 1998 Yankees which had 48 games?

I thought the Sox had the recored, can anybody fill me in.

Mods, feel free to move this if necessary.

I believe the Sox record is games to start the season.

The Sox record is from the beginning of the season...the Yanks record is simply the best streak from any point in the season...I've been waiting to hear that number.

13 more to go!:D:

The Sox record is to start a seaon. The regular season record is 35 or 36, i think, and the Yankee's record includes the post season. They just want to give Yankee props where ever they can.
The thread named 35... explains this I think.

Another thing: The Sox won the last game of the 2004 season, so that makes it at least 36 consecutive games going back to last season(I don't know if it would go further than that.) If the playoffs count, why not consecutive seasons?

I just looked. ESPN keeps the game box scores.

They led at some point in the final 6 games. 9/27/04 was the last game that the Sox never led in.

Thus, our streak across seasons is now 41 ;)

Ok, the two best teams in the majors played against each other. Someone please tell me that we were the lead story on Baseball Tonight. We had to have been.

They were the lead story, but remember, the Yankees, Red Sox and Cubs were off last night.

We actually led at some point in the last six games of 2004. That means our regular season streak is 41 right now.

Good point... we'll have to see if it holds true tonight as well.
