Um, thank you, Hawk. Here's something else you may like--best White Sox records over any 35-game string within a single season:

(I just noticed these only go through 2003, but I trust you get the idea . . . )

For curiousity's sake, I went all the way to the bottom...I'm glad I wasn't around in 1932...

Ah, 1932. 49-102, saved from last place by an even more inept 43-111 Red Sox
team. Lew Fonseca takes the mound for an inning, the White Sox beat the crap
out of Michael Moriarty's grandfather and the Cubs play in the World Series.....

Mm. I see what you mean.

Here's some "I looove it when you analyze" for ya:

Of all the teams 26-9 or better in the history of baseball:

75% make the playoffs
59% make the World Series
34% *WIN* the World Series

love the link. The internet is wonderful!

Best record over 50 games is a tie at 40-10. 28 and 39 Yanks. All our SOX have to do is go 14-1 to tie the best over the first 50 games. 15-0 and they are the best ever all by themselves!

I have a lot of faith in this team, but I'm not holding my breath for 14-1.

Analysis, you say? Then you don't want to include the teams better than 26-9. Still, the teams that won 26 of their first 35 look pretty good. Of those 17, five won the World Series, eight played in the World Series, and twelve reached the post-season.

I love it when you analyze better than me. Good point, Johnny!

Of course, I am *assuming* we're going to go 153-9, so....
