Woo hoo!

Excellent. Just excellent. Who are these big-bat Orioles again?

I needed the paddles to restart my heart in the 8th, but Hermanson was smooth.

Garland is for real. I would say he made only one mistake, but Palmeiro can hit home runs off anyone.

What an outing by Jon Garland. Absolutely off the charts performance against an outstanding offense. That K against Tejada in the 8th was one hell of a pitch.

Just enough offense once again. Great to hear Hawk's home run call back in action. And with the Twins idle...

This may be a twisted way to think about it, but Hermanson cannot go all season without giving up a run. It will be interesting to see how long he can go. Hopefully, he'll allow one run when the Sox are up by two or more.

Also, it's amazing that Reed has a 7.15 ERA. That guy was lights out.

Amazing job by JG getting out of that 8th inning, and just in general.

Great to be 5 games up.

Great that Ozzie didn't bring Shingo out in the 9th as some kind of motivational tool.

Great that we don't have to dread every 5th day to see what mystery starter will be pitching. So nice to have a good chance to win every game.

I think one thing that has really been overlooked during the start of the season is the way that our pitchers have fielded their position. Garland made a few solid plays today and fooled the O's rook into running home and ended up saving us the lead. The entire pitching staff has only commited one error this season (Pollite) and have turned numerous DP's...looks like our 30th will come before the cubs 20th...Booya!

Other than ScottyPo getting caught stealing both times in this game, everything that could go right for this team did- awesome pitching and great stabs by Konerko & Garland! Can anyone say, "35?!"

I love Garland right now!! He's wearing his confidence on his sleeve and has such command of his pitches. That 3-2 pitch he threw to Tejada in the 8th was phenomenal!

If someone would've told me Garland would be 7-0 to start the season, I would've found the first phone number to a therapist that I could and given it to that person!

I'm just back from the game. Had great seats, section 136 row 25 (I know, you're happy for me).

Couple of things. The at bat with Tejada was so nerve racking. Great pitch and a great call by AJ on the change up to get the strikeout. It was the kind of situation that makes me love/hate baseball year end and year out.

Pods getting picked off twice: I really couldn't believe that he fell for that move twice. When Chen goes to the plate, he goes quick and into the stretch; when he made a move to 1st, he brought his leg up, and more into a wind up. I don't know if anyone else caught this, but I thought Pods could have done better there.

This was a great game. Good crowd great defense; nice hob by Cy Garland

Yeah the atmosphere of the game, even on television, was incredible compared to other games. It seriously did feel like I was watching a division series or something. Garland is stellar. I definitely think the play of the game though was when he went home on that ball that bounced back to him. I was so ticked at our offense in the 7th: Garland wriggled out of a jam, and then AJ, Crede, and Timo gave them three outs on 5 pitches! I turned to my buddy and said, "I don't think Garland even had a chance to take off his glove!"

I was worried that he'd be shaky, and he was (without that sno-cone catch by PK, that becomes a pretty ugly inning), but boy, did he turn it around fast! A great decision to go to the plate to nail Mr. I-just-arrived-from-AAA-and-am-batting-1.000, a BS broken bat blooper, and that unbelievable K of Tejada. Only now that I'm home (and watched the tape of the game) do I appreciate the full magnitude of that one pitch.

I just saw the highlights on espnews, I missed the entire game because I had to be at a wedding rehearsal, glad we won though.

Seems like it was an awesome game.

AMEN, brother!

We were there tonight, too, using the Teacher's Day vouchers from ewokpelts (Thanks again, Gene!)

That K from Garland vs. Tejada was HUGE. Definitely playoff-like atmosphere.

Memo to downstairs: Sweeping the O's this weekend doesn't hardly "avenge '83" - I'd rather the Sox kicked the Orioles butts in post-season to make that thought come true. But it's a start...

I am surprised no one mentioned that great AB Aaron had before he drew the walk.I didn't count how many pitches it was,but it was somewhat reminiscent of that AB Frank had last year(though I know his AB was longer). As for Scotty getting picked off, from my view in LF it appeared very close-especially the 2nd time he got out.How did it look on the tv replay? Needless to say(but I will anyway),I was more than ecstatic to see another White Sox Winner!!:supernana:

The game was great. Props to whoever had the "Where's Corky?" sheet sign in the UD. Also when we got back in the car, "Scotty Doesnt Know" (Eurotrip) came up on the MP3 resulting in a car full of guys changing the lyrics to be about scotty Po. Great time.

Sox Pride.

The inflated power hitting era has ended... we're now back in the pitching era. C'mon Mark Beuhrle, keep it going bro.

EDIT: I originally said the 'roid era has ended... I'm naive, but not THAT naive.

Let's just strike every one of those nicknames from public record. Could be the worst trend EVER.

You mean the Pedro Martinez-Big Frank AB last year? I think it was about 500 pitches :D: It was a close play but they had Scotty pretty cold on the second one at least, saw the replay a few times and each angle he looked out. It was a good slide but just couldnt beat the pickoff. What a pitch by Garland, just phenomenal. ANd how about Garland going 8 innings? He is definitely looking like he will be topping 250 innings pitched this year, what a horse on top of his great pitching. Going tonight and sunday, hopefully for the sweep. :D: :bandance: :gulp:

I knew Garland was going to work his way past Tejada in the eighth when the screen cut away to that I'm-so-in-control look that Jon had on his face during the at-bat. Fabulous performance by Garland.
Thank goodness Ozzie didn't feel like bolstering Shingo's confidence in the ninth by putting Hermanson in.
Great game.

Did anyone else think Robin sounded like a dunce? I swear that man killed the momentum in the booth more times in one game than DJ has all year combined.

that was hilarious when uribe threw his bat and some guys sitting in scout seats drenched it in beer. Funny stuff
