Last night, after midnight eastern time, Les Grobstein appeared on Toronto's sports talk station, FAN 590. He called in live from Wrigley during the closing innings of the Cubs-Mets game. He predicted that the Sox would eventually be eclipsed by the Twins. HOWEVER, he also ripped the Cubs, calling them "a train wreck" with the worst bullpen in baseball. Not sure how often he calls in to FAN 590, but it was interesting to hear.

We now resume our regularly scheduled anti-Sox-media hysteria.

What I said was that the Twins are not going away, and many still feel they are the better team, but I picked the Sox 1st and the Cubs 4th in my own website. And yes,I did trash the Cubs, and did it on Montreal and Honolulu Radio Stations today as well. I said, they basically stink!! Right now,I can be heard just about anywhere but my own town--here!!

Next time on Team990 let us know so we can listen

Montreal is a better baseball town than either Miami or Tampa Bay

I'm starting to think there are multiple Fenways spread out across the country with the ground you cover. So far just this season I have read about you being in Chicago (games at both Comiskey and Weegham Park), Detroit, Montreal, probably Boston, and weren't you at spring trainging? Sounds like you live a fun life full of baseball!

LOL...Fenway is everywhere. Split a wood and he is there; look under a rock and you will find him.

Sorry for quoting you imprecisely, Mr. G. It was after midnight, and my ears couldn't believe what they were hearing once you ripped into the Cubs. Maybe it was so shocking to hear because I've been over-exposed to hangar's media theories. It's been excessively nutty here the past week or so.

I suspect that fenway is actually Doctor Who and travels around in a time machine.

Lemme tell y'all a little something about Mr. Grobstein. I worked with him off and on in press boxes across the city, and I vouch for this one fact. Yes...he is a Cub fan. But he's about as fair of a reporter as you can find. Sure, he'll stick up for his Cubbie blue like any other LEGITIMATE fan (and I emphasize "LEGITIMATE"...no, "going for the novelty/bars across the street" in this fellow). Yet, he'll call it like he sees it, and for that, I'll tip my cap off to him.

He one of the few sports casters that actually have the balls to tell the truth about local sports, and no program director has the guts to within 100 feet of him and give him a legitimate job. Sometimes I think my 3-year-old has more of a backbone than some of the folks running Chicago sports-talk radio nowadays, and people like Les are more of a threat to the "status quo" of kissing up and not offending potential advertisers than many of those who are on the air now.

I was just thinking that maybe Fenway is God? But then I came to realize that there is no way God would live in Boston. My guess is he's some lower level Deity or maybe just a guy with a really powerful radio antenna?!?!?

Maybe he's a buddhist Bodhisattva. Fenway, how many arms do you have?

Les tells it like it is. He is Cub fan and defends the Cubbie blue when he feels it's warranted, but he is the most fair reporter I've ever listened to. Don't be surprised when he rips on the Cubs because I've heard him do it many times. He is far and away the best radio personality this city has to offer. It is a sham he's not on the radio, and many so called "talents" still is.

Les has always tried to tell it straight regardless of whether or not that causes people to be upset or even if it causes problems with his beloved 'Cubbies.'

How can you not respect that?

Good job Grobber!
