View Full Version : 18-4 against AL Central

To me, this record is the most impressive stat. Last season, the Sox were 40-36 on the season against Central division opponents. They're already 2 wins from being 50% to last year's win total in this stat. What an awesome change from previous years!
edit: fixed the record.

It's 18. 17 vs. central + 3 versus west doesn't equal 21!

Yeah, remember all the talk in the beginning of the year about all the games within the division, and how those would really tell how the Sox would do. People said we needed to make sure that we won about 12 of those 22 games in order to make a statement that we would contend. But who would have thought we'd win 18?

I'm not even as excited about our winning record vs MN and CLE so much as I am about beating KC and Detroit. Those two have been SOX KILLERS and it seems that has changed.

Anyone who thinks that wins against the Central aren't as meaningful as the ones against the East and West need to take a look at the schedule: pretty heavy on Central opposition, a few Flubbie games, and September-October is nothing but Central opponents.
I agree with Ozzie on this one; you have to win against your own division, especially since Kansas City and Detroit rankled the Sox last year.
