Is that record having the lead in consecutive games to start a season? or is it having the lead in the most consecutive games ever?

To start a season. Which is even more impressive (at least to me) than at a point in the middle of a season

Any idea what it is at any point in the season?

No, but I'm sure that will come up soon when the Sox break that. :D:

I'm sure some jerk-ass yankee team owns that record, too.

I can't imagine the record being much more than 30 games

Im pretty sure its ever. I was listening to the KC broadcasters today on mlb.tv and they said most consecutive games lead ever.

Well, I don't know. The 1916 Giants WON 26 in a row. They bookended the streak with a shutout and a game where they only scored one run. So it's possible they only led in 26 in a row.

The 2002 A's, who won 20 in a row, led in 21 in a row. I don't know about any others.

Every article I've read lately and every ESPN thing they've shown has pointed to "ever."

But they were saying it was to start the season when it was around 20, so who knows.

Here's a related stat to the record. Only 2 opposing starters have earned victories against the White Sox this year. Of the 7 losses, 5 opposing relievers earned the victories, while Santana and Meche were the only starters. Opposing starters actually have a 2-15 record against us. The remaining 10 games were decided by the opposing team's bullpen. White Sox starters are 15-3 so far. This is more evidence that we have, at least, outlasted almost every single opposing starter this year. And most of our wins have involved scoring early and holding leads.

I don't know what the record for the season is. All I know is if the Cubs, Yanks, or Red Sox were in our position, espn would give us a scrolling ticker on the bottom of the screen, updating us on a per-pitch basis with every possible angle of this record.
