I happened to tune in to Mike Murphy on the Snore after the game. He made an AMAZING observation. It's pretty complex, so I hope I can get it right. Here it is:

The Sox tonight had 11 hits and 2 BB for a total of 13 baserunners. The Royals had 8 hits and no BB for a total of 8 baserunners. Meanwhile, the Brewers had 9 hits and 4 BB for a total of 13 baserunners, while the Cubs had 5 hits and no BB for a total of 5 baserunners. In both cases, the team with more baserunners won.

Pretty amazing stuff, huh? You think ole Murph might be on to something? I'll bet Bill James is worried about his job right now.

I wonder how he would explain the Twins/Sox game several weeks ago where El-Duque pitched, or Friday's game against the Tigers?

If he's like any other statistician confronted about their mistakes, Murph should claim "luck." Easy way out.:D:
