It's not as tough when you consider how he was playing. He looked awful. This could be a positive thing for them. Now Ryan Howard will have a chance to play and he might provide them with a spark and more production. If Thome gets backs healthy, and returns to his usual form, Howard's value could be higher, giving the Phillies a chance to trade him for some help.

It's about time. Opens up a spot on my fantasy roster. He's been wasting space on my bench for 2 weeks now. Hopefully Thome can reset himself and come back to help the Phils.

Marlon Byrd is no scrub, so the dropoff from him to Lofton is not that huge. As far as Thome goes, nobody can replace a guy like that. And that NL East is not looking too kindly for them although they did clobber the Mets today. Brett Myers has been unreal to start the season. He's like the NL clone of Jon Garland.

Yes...I would find it to be out of line. He is naturally a very huge man and has had some hard luck with persistent injuries. I know every time someone goes on the DL from now on people are gonna point at them and say "WITCH!" Ahem, I mean "STEROID USER!". People get hurt. The world's an imperfect place

No.

But it'd be more like the lack of them.

It wouldn't suprise me if he and almost all MLB players were users at one time... nothing would suprise me.

I was just talking about this last night. I think he actually will find a way to hit a HR off the Sox this year without ever playing against them.

Absolutely.

Any way we can get Mike Sweeney moved over to the Nats or some other NL team we don't see?
