CHICAGO -- An MRI scan of Kerry Wood's right shoulder on Monday revealed a supraspinatus muscle strain, and he will be shut down for a minimum of three weeks, the Chicago Cubs announced.

I offered a bet to a Cub fan at work for $20. Either Wood(s) or the Messiah would be on the D.L. prior to May 31. He wouldn't take it. I wonder when the Cubune will throw Wood(s) under the bus?

I read an article that referred to Wood as an " Ace ". I think the author is throwing the word around a bit to loosely.

don't call Kerry Wood KW. KW is the great Kenny WIlliams. KW Is our GM, the man who put the greatest team in MLB together, not some loser pitcher who hasn't pitched a good game in 7 tears.

He said KW because when Carrie won his game at the Crumbling Confines last week they raised not a "W" flag, but a "KW" flag.

I thought Wood was only out one week...

The Cubs say 3 weeks. That amounts to about 4 months when translated from cubdom to reality.

When they were transitioning from Telander's show to Murphy's on The Score today, the rest of the guys were giving Murph a hard time about Wood's DL stint. In typical ridiculous fashion, he somehow managed to change the subject to Joe Crede not understanding the HBP rule last week. It was both hilarious and pathetic at the same time.

At least. Now we get treated to a week's worth of Wood Watch.

Why not he's the best pitcher in Chicago. Frank Thomas is a bum so he doesn't deserve a Frank Thomas Watch. I'm sure the Cubune will report everytime Wood gets off the toilet.

So I guess this means that in tommorrow's Trib, besides the car accident that was tonight's Bulls game being on the front page, we'll be treated to a nice big full color picture of Carrie, with the headline "SHUT DOWN", or "OUCH, NOT AGAIN", or something like that, along with the required 4-5 Carrie/Cubs articles. There will be 1 Sox article on page 4. (You know, the White Sox ? 18-7 ? Best record in the majors ? Anyone ?)

It's already going up from the original 3 weeks. They're now saying 5-6 weeks. Shocking.

The problem was that they were misreporting it. Even the inital Reports indicated that he'd be shutdown for 3 weeks, obviously indicating that he'd be out for at least a few more weeks.

Im sure Hendry is just delighted he gave that much money to Carrie rather than Clement.

Do you think this will delay his Hall of Fame induction ceremony next week ?

Interesting, because in one of the papers, I saw the injury described as a "strain in the rotator cuff". Maybe one of the docs can elaborate, but I thought that a "strain" was actually a mild tear. Or is that a "sprain"?

If true, then this is extremely serious. A fragile guy with bad mechanics who's got some damage in his shoulder? That's just surgery waiting to happen.

Sorry my bad. I thought you remembered, this was Dusty's quote a few weeks ago after Wood first said his arm hurt. I mocked it saying that was like having a field goal kicker who 'only' has a broken toe.

I like how this has actually been going on since spring training and they waited to now to let him rest... That's going to bring in a lot of FA pitchers in the future!!!!

"Just shut up and pitch until your arm falls off, then pitch another Month and a half. If it still hurts then we'll take a look at it and re-evaluate what we are going to do with you. If it doesn't look good for you we'll start the media blitz about the troubles you cause in the club house."
