He was also named AL co-player of the week with Arod. Well deserved, Jon. :gulp:

The Sox's Jon Garland was named American League pitcher of the month for April and AL co-player of the week with New York's Alex Rodriguez for April 25-May 1.

Garland is the Pitcher of the Month and Player of the Week. (http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/press_releases/press_release.jsp?ymd=20050502&content_id=1035788&vkey=pr_cws&fext=.jsp&c_id=cws)

Well deserved....on both counts.

I'm happy he won but he doesnt deserve it.

When you lead the AL in ERA, wins, WHIP, shutouts, innings per start, batting average against and a tie for CGs, you better win the AL player of the month. Congats to Garland on the best month of his career. Hopefully this wont be the last one he wins this year.

And on the player of the week, as a pitcher, it doesnt get any better than two shutouts. Who's that Alex guy and why does Garland have to share the award with him?

I'm really glad to see Garland get the respect around the league he deserves for such a fantastic start. It continues to amaze me by what he has been able to accomplish this season. I also must say that I never really believed he could do this and am proud that he has proved me wrong. Way to go Garland!

I'm hoping that all the success will make the other starters envious and they'll start stepping it up. They've been good this year so far, but I think Contreras and El Duque could dominate more.

Buehrle I never worry about.

You get all these guys trying to outdo each other and look out...

What is this BS about a "co-player" of the week? There's no sharing in baseball! What next, tie games at the commissioner's discretion? Everything has to point back to the Yankees. Why can't they just ONCE not be treated like something better than everyone else. Garland is pitching like a freakin machine out there and helping to carry this team along in 1st place. A-Rod has one exceptional night but, as always, A-Rod is the leader of teams that go nowhere! Damn you Yankees. AUGH! HELL! BAH!

The funny, and maybe best thing, about your Buerhle statement is that he is currently last among the Chisox starters in ERA. And we dont have to worry about him one bit. How awesome is our rotation.

Congrats, Jon!:gulp: :bandance:

And yesterday's start was in May... so I suppose he's working on grabbing the award this month as well?

This is just how I pitch. I like to give the average guy a break from everyday life when he comes to the ballpark.

How can this be? John Kruk, the all knowing God of BBTN, said Johan Santana should have been the AL Pitcher of the Month. Shocking.

Garland just seems to have so much confidence in all his pitches, which is so great to see. He's challenging hitters when need be and then throwing that sharp sinker and curve ball for that big strike out to avoid the big innings he's had in the past. That could make the difference on this staff as we could have three 15-18 game winners with Buehrle, Garcia and Garland and take the pressure off of Contreras and El Duque if stamina becomes a problem over the course of the summer.

The good news just keeps coming for this team- congratulations Jon!

It's been said for years that if the White Sox could get production from their #5 we'd be in good shape. Very good to see this kind of production so far......
