I wonder if the casinos have changed the odds for the Central Division a bit since the start the Sox had. I would have to assume that currently the Sox have to be the favorite for the division

I doubt it. There are too many mediots writing/saying that the Sox are going to fade. Besides, 15-4 is spectacular...but lets not forget what happened to KC a few years ago after a hot start. Don't get me wrong, I am very excited about this team...but I'm probably not going to start going crazy til late June/July.

They're up a bunch over the last couple of weeks if you look at www.tradesports.com (http://www.tradesports.com)

I still believe it, but this is a ridiculous start. I would assume the odds would have had to shift a little bit at least.

We could probably be 10 games up after the All-Star break and the negative comments would still come. Someone pointed out that if we can play at least .500 ball from here on out, that's 87 wins. If we can just play just above that and reach the 90 win plateau that should be enough to win this division.

Sportsbooks don't give a damn about media coverage. They care about the bottom line.

We should stop trying. We all know it's just between the Indians and Tigers anyway.

I hope we're not. I hope the media continues to think what's happening is a fluke, or just dumb luck, and that we'll come crashing back down to earth. I hope it continues all the way to the All-Star break. The media is counting on a Sox collapse. Here's to hoping it never happens...and that teams don't take us seriously until July/August.

That's funny because I was thinking the same thing about KC the other day. But then I remembered how I said KC would never last because they didn't have the pitching, and sure enough, they faded. The Sox are off to a similar start, but they do have the pitching to hold up. This team is never going to go on an extended (5-6-7) game losing streak because of the rotation. That's a great feeling to have.

I hate to be a heretic here, but personally I would like all the attention and record-start stuff to go away, frankly.

With a new team and a still-adapting lineup, the last thing I want to see is pressure from external issues, even if they are positive.

Fly under the radar, boys--play smart ball, win ugly if you have to. Since we basically adapted the Twins' team model, I wouldn't mind us adapting their low-key status as well.

And is waaaaaay too premature to even BEGIN to think that we're favorites for anything at this point--we're not even into May yet.

Talk to me at the All Star break!

Respect is earned in October. The Cubs still get respect for making that run two years ago, regardless of the choke. Speed, defense and pitching wins in October when the weather cools and fly balls don't travel as far. We are built for that. I just can't wait to see what move Kenny moves before the trade deadline. You KNOW a big one will come, even if we don't "need" it. This team is built for October, let's go earn some respect then. We won't earn it from the media tools (and maybe Vegas) in April as much as we'd like.

I'm proud to say I put $150 on the Sox at Imperial Palace when I was in Vegas for March Madness. At 7 to 1. I for one am glad there was no hype going into the season.

I don't know if you've all noticed this, but Minnesota seems to be having the same misfortunes with the Tigers this year that we had last year. It is those games against the Tigers that could have won us the division had we won a few more of them. I won't call it an indication just yet, but perhaps the tables could be turned on the Twins, and the Sox will walk away with the division...Just a thought...

Twins were 3 to 1
Kittens and Wahoos were 5 to 1? Please

I was out there with 6 other southsiders, our whole crew put at least $100 on them.

FYI, Imperial Palace is the only place on the Vegas strip (or downtown) that will take a MLB Division Bet. The other joints only offer AL/NL or World Series Props.

Yes we're the favorites right now - to me, anyway. I never considered the tribe serious contenders and figured Minny only slightly better than us. So now I'd say we have a better chance than Minny. (Minny has always seemed to me to play above their talent level, but they do it year after year, so I probably don't have the proper respect for their talent).
