I don't want to sound to viscious, but too bad it wasn't Mauer.

How about we save Big Hurt at 260 lbs. for Mauer.
Of course the fear of Crede's elbow is now in Mauer's head, so expect the oh-lay treatment from now on.

I guess this is "Law of Averages" that Gardenhire was talking about. Hunter takes out the Sox backup catcher and Sweeney takes out the Twins backup catcher. But somehow I think Sweeney's was a legit play while Hunters was dirty.
P.S. - I have the Hunter hit on tape and there is no doubt about it, he went way too far off the line to nail Burke.

I was thinking the same thing immediately after I saw the highlight.

Sweeney is notorious for having a sore back when he's simply trying to play 1B, let alone plowing into the opponent's catcher... I'm guessing he'll be somewhat nicked-up for the SOX series starting tonight.

Don't count on that, remember those two games a couple of years ago where Frank didn't slide into home? I think those cost us the game, right? Anway, they also had a Fox Sports or Sports Channel commerical about him a few years back where he was saying something like, "When there's a play at the plate it's like two trains colliding, and when I'm rounding third coming home, I keep thinking that... I"M THE BIG TRAIN."
But, that's all crap because he always seemed to avoid any kind of contact in those situations.

Frank is about as likely to take out a fielder as I am. I can't remember a single time that Frank has used his size to put a (legit) hit on a catcher or a fielder at 2nd or 3rd. Frank usually tries to avoid hitting anyone. One time I'd like to see Frank clobber someone, preferably a Twins player. I just don't think that it will happen though.
I read somewhere recently that the Twins like to slyly block bases, or impede them, when baserunners are going past bases. Glad to see the Twins take a hit from Sweeney.

I sure wish Jim Thome were still in the AL Central for plays like that.

Thome is a road grader, bad things would happen if he bowled over a catcher.

One of the funniest things I've read on the boards in a while.
