Had it been anywhere else but at Petco Park, it would have been the usual three run homer. Instead, it's a two out, two run triple to give the Dodgers a 3-1 lead.

Jose Valentin just hit a 2-run triple off of Scott Linebrink in the top of the 10th inning to give the Dodgers a 3-1 lead. IIRC he hit a walk-off homerun a week or 10 days ago. His clutch flair and leadership are going to quickly grow on Dodger fans, just like they did here. Rock on Jose!

I loved the fist-pumping toward the Dodgers dugout when he reached third! Glad to see Jose playing on a winner too.

He just hit a two run triple against the Padres in the top of the 10. ESPN bonus coverage had a couple innings and listening to Vin Scully is a treat.

ESPN bonus coverage is great! Now they are showing dbacks vs giants

Don't blame us - yours was the last of the three (and by 6 minutes).

I also stayed up watching all the extra baseball coverage on ESPN 2, and it was cool because all the other games were close, and you got a chance to watch the endings.

They should have been doing more of this in past years.

:gulp:

Jose is one guy I'm sure of that will be largely cheered in his return to Comiskey on June 17/18/19. However, there will be a couple idiots who will boo him for some reason.

Another thing - Jose is on the MLB front page at ESPN.com right now.

yesterday on Rome is Burning they were talking about the Dodgers and some guy said "jose Valentine...I mean...where did he come from?!"

Not to bag on Jose, but he is feasting on inferior NL pitching after having spent a few years facing superior AL pitchers. Glad to see him doing well, maybe we can see a repeat matchup of the 59 World Series, with a different result!

Good for Jose, but I still think he sucks and I'm glad he's gone. I'll take balance over a guy who only shows up sporadically in clutch situations.

I think all of us agree that this Sox team is much better without Jose on it. (probably one of only a few instances all of WSI agrees on something!!) But at the same time, we root for him to do well for his new team and are happy to see him succeed, or at least I am. That speaks volumes about the kind of guy Jose is, and the contributions he made to this team over the years (even if his last few years were subpar), and sets him apart from money grubbers like Magglio, Bartolo, etc.

I wont be booing him thats for sure. I'm glad his K's, E's, and low average is off the Sox. Sure he'll get the clutch hit and what not, but Jose Jose...we all know what you tend to do the majority of the time. Good luck to him though, always was a big fan of his.

Ahhhhhh...Valentine strikes again! I need to make a tag to go along with Valentine/Valentin. I think that has got to be the most used misspelling this board had ever seen. with "Loiaza and Burhle" coming in a close 2nd and third.

Pornstache strikes again, you just knew he was going to come up big in that situation, I'm surprised he didn't kill the first pitch that he took for a strike, it was right where he usually likes it, and he usually pulls that for a HR. I also enjoyed the fist pumping at third

Took a look at his stats. Nice BA, which he didn't have last year; hopefully, he keeps it up. SO's about 1/3 of the time, which is on a par with last year. 5 errors already, but, then again, that's probably not been too critical if the team has the best record in baseball.

On one of those games at Comiskey, I could actually see the fans doing the Jose.. Jose... Jose chant if it's a blowout.

I could see the Sox up by about 11 in the 7th inning of the last game leading to a sweep. Everyone feels good and Jose comes up to bat. I could see the chant coming out for that.

Let's hope it's that easy for us.

I agree.Good to see him doing well,but he's in a league where
fastballs are more common than off speed pitches. My friend and I
sat in the left field bleachers last year. This couple would always
bring their year old son to weekend games. One time, the husband
turns to me as Valentin has runners at first and third,2 outs
and a 3-2 count. He says "How much you wanna bet this is a 3-2
curve in the dirt and he strikes out swinging??"

I didn't take the bet.Too easy to collect on that one.
JV struck out swinging to end the inning.:(:
