It's DUSTIN TIME.

I voted for Dustin only because of the recent play.. Give Shingo some time, and I think he'll go back to wow-ing us. Personally, my most recent memory of Hermanson is personally removing SF from the playoffs against the Los Angeles Dodgers of California Formerly Known as the Brooklyn Dodgers of New York.

I really like Shingo, and I still believe he can be useful in certain situations where a "specialist" is needed. When he's on his game, it's difficult for a hitter to do anything against him. The trouble is, it's hard to know when he'll be on or off. As fun as the Gong Show has been, I've never been all that comfortable with him closing games, even during the "Mr. Zero" days last year.

Hermanson just seems to possess that bad-ass closer's mentality. His mound presence seems to say, "Score on me,and I'll punch you in the mouth."

The Dodgers had a pretty cool thing going with Gagne and "Game Over." Maybe we could have something similar, and leave our opponents:

"In the Dust"
(They could pump in the theme from The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly whenever he takes the field!)

We could always stick to the 3 or 4 man closer role we have right now.

I'm going with Hermanson, only because he looks like he can get the job done night after night as of right now.

I like Hermanson for now. For some reason, I think Shingo struggles when it's a bit cooler out, as he was used to pitching indoors when he was in Japan for all of those years. Last year he struggled in April, and he's struggled a bit so far this season as well. I hope he heats up with the weather this season!

Shingo can be our late-inning righty specialist, but Hermanson should close.

Maybe after the last out "Another One Bites the Dust" can be blared throughout the stadium. In the end thought, I don't care who really closes, just get the job done, whoever it is.

Depends on the night...

I think almost everyone in the pen is capable of closing...build Shingo back up...

Shingo is too predictable, predictable may not be the right word, but he's got a certain style that I think hitters can adjust to...i think if neal cotts sets up...we throw shingo...if shingo sets up...we throw hermanson...get the hitters off balance...visquiano, shingo isn't too great a combo...i like to see power then junk, or junk then power...or we could just throw Charlie Hough and be done with it.

so i didn't vote as my option was not included in the pole...

but hermanson is looking pretty hot right now...

Call me a perfectionist or a troll... but, I think it really stinks when fans are incapable of correctly spelling the names of the players.

VIZCAINO.

EDIT: I'll credit the above for at least spelling it as it sounds, "visquiano"

I think Hermanson should get the ball for now because Shingo is obviously struggling. He struggled with left-handed batters all spring, and he has even started to have some trouble with righties now that the season has started.

Later in the year, I think Shingo should get the ball. He showed last year that he is a slow starter, but he is lights out when he gets command of his pitches. For now, Ozzie can just bring him around slowly until he gets on a roll.

I voted for Hermanson. Once Shingo gets his control back, I am sure it will be much more difficult to choose one, but because of recent performances, I have to go with Dustin. Once Shingo gets his control back, having two real closers is going to be quite a luxury.

I was a big proponent of getting a true closer this offseason. I think Shingo is the perfect 7th-8th innning pitcher that could confuse hitters between a starter and a power pitcher. However, he is struggling now that teams know more of what he's throwing. If he's not hitting with the junk, he really doesn't have power to turn to. I say we go with Hermanson for a little while and try to get a real closer.

Dustin is on his game and Shingo is not, so Dustin is better fit for the role right now. I can only hope that Shingo gets his control nailed soon.

I say give the ball to Hermie til Shingo works out the bugs.

I think we have good versatility in our bullpen. Why do you have to have a designated closer? I would like to see the situation, and how the person is throwng dictate who you use. I think Ozzie is doing this ok so far IMHO

if Shingo keeps this up, take him out but right now give it to him. He's had success before as a 7th-8th inning reliever. Maybe we should never bring him in when there are runners on base. He's blowing up Vizaino's ERA. The batters just wait on him and when he throws a lot of balls, it gets ugly.

You stick with Shingo. You have to figure out what he's going to do. If he's taken out of the closers role now then Ozzie better be prepared to go with Hermanson for the rest of the year. That's not something I'm ready for quite yet. Give Shingo more time.

At least we can finally put to rest this belief that Shingo is a top closer. Top closers don't lose their closers job versus one team and top closers don't get taken out of the closers role until they get their control back.

Shingo.

Shouldn't the question be "who should Ozzie give the ball to when it's closing time?" :?: The MLB does not allow more than one pitcher on the mound during the game.

Hermanson, people are adjusting to shingo. he can be effective for 102 batters....hermanson is more of a prototype closer anyways...and whats with the grammar police?

are we jerry manuel?

Which way's the wind blowing today?

Two questions to ask ourselves before answering this poll question.

2 rough early season outings does not a washed-up player make.

Foulke went through a lot worse, yet who among you would have voted over him in this poll?

Rivera's had some trouble this season, and I still think he's a dominant closer.
I voted for Hermanson yesterday, but I'm beginning to think otherwise.
