I was expecting to see a nice big color photo of the Bulls clinching win yesterday with some nice big headline saying something like "Bulls return to playoffs." so I could add it to my collection, but no. They have the masters on the back page.
Seriously... what is wrong with this town? The news last night didnt even highlight the Bulls, they just did their normal few minutes on their win. You think if the Bulls get out of the first round would they then get any coverage?

I think they'll start getting a little more coverage. I think once the postseason starts, they might pay a little more attention to the Bulls.

I think a lot of people are still upset over the sudden drop in talent from the Jordan championship days to the utterly dismal attempt at basketball from the last 6 years.
I don't know if people are really willing to emotionally get excited about this team until they prove they can consistently win over a course of 2-3 seasons.

It's just not a huge deal for a basketball team to make the playoffs. Half of all teams do. Not to diminish what they've done, just a reason I'm figuring. And I don't think many people give the Bulls a shot to go all the way. If they did, there would be a lot more attention around them.

But still, they're not exactly just sneaking into the playoffs. I dont have the exact stat but they've won something like 10 of their last 11 games and they're the best non-division leader in basketball by three games. They will likely have home court advantage in the first round. They're not just re-entering on the down low, they're reentering in style.

Good point.
Ultimately the reason the Bulls aren't getting any publicity, or at least the publicity they deserve, is because this team doesn't have big superstars that garner all the attention. The constant comparison to the Pistons is dead-on in many ways. Because of their team oriented play, they never create a big raucous, they just win. As a result, no big flash so no big coverage. Still come playoff time, I'll guarantee every channel starting their newscast with the Bulls.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your post, but doesn't almost every western conference playoff team have a better record than the Bulls?

i think the attention has been muted recently due to a few factors:...1) home openers of both chicago baseball teams(more for the cubs than sox)...2) the illini...and 3)...the masters is a big golf tourney

The 8th seed in the West, Memphis, has the same record as the 4th seed in the East, da Bulls. But the Bulls started 0-9 and are now 44-32. They have also won 10 of 11. They have been on fire.

Yeah, that's why I didn't understand how they could have the best record of any non-division leader in basketball by three games- could be true in the east though.
