7 IP, 1 ER, 2H, 10 K, 1 BB so far. Unfortunately, the Knights are losing 1-0.

7IP 1R 1ER 2H 1BB 10K. Gave up a solo shot. Otherwise, lights out. But he's on the hook for the loss if the Knights can't score.

I can't believe we have no room for him...

How nice would he have fit in LAST YEAR...

The Knights just tied it up 1-1, so McCarthy won't be on the hook for the loss.

Hopefully this guy will continue to pitch lights-out, and Garland will continue to pitch crappy, and we will see him on the South Side sooner rather than later.

I want the best 5 starters...you cant hope for Garland to pitch crappy. If McCarthy is flat dominating...you make room.

I am also not convinced Contreras and Hernandez will be 100% for the whole season...it will play out like its supposed to...

Like Soxxos said, the Cubans may not last, especially El Duque. They have pitched great so far, but bad slumps and injuries can happen. I am sure McCarthy will be up here soon enough. He is a nice luxury to have.

Knights trailed 2-1 in the bottom of the 9th and won 3-2. Just for the record, Borchard was 0-4 with 3 whiffs. :whiner:
Birmingham won their game in similar fashion. :bandance:

Contrary to popular belief, McCarthy is human. He will have his turn getting his tits lit. He won't walk into the bigs and dominate without getting banged around. Yes he is good, but lets not annoint him the savior too quickly.

Yeah, and he'll be up here soon enough. This is a long season and we don't need to hurry him into the rotation or anyone else out. We don't want to "Prior-ize" him, lest we become that which we detest. Anyone for a McCarthy Watch?

Is that some kind of rookie initiation?

Hahaha..... I wonder if he gets bad luck if he can't blow them both out in one breath?

Since when has Garland sucked this year? Pretty good outing his first time out...esspically with the flu.

Um, last time I checked, most Sox fans actually root for the players on their team to succeed, because that will ultimately mean that the team succeeds.

I know you like McCarthy, but I would much rather see the Sox win in all 5 starting positions all year. For Jon to lose his job to Brandon he would probably have to stink it up for the next 2-3 months before KW would consider calling up McCarthy...do you want to deal with that many losses on a team not considered the favorite to win the division?

Exactly. I'm sure KW & Ozzie wouldn't mind having that type of problem.

I wouldn't mind seeing Brandon McCarthy in Charlotte for the rest of the year; means our pitching staff will be doing A-OK.

Agreed. There is no need to rush him. He is only 21.

What kind of stuff does McCarthy have? Does he have 4 pitches or 5 or what? I don't know too much about him other than he's a top prospect, and he's about 11 feet tall.

Isnt this the part where the Cubune & Cub Times have McCarthy Watches and the Mike Murphys start ranting daily on his personal Radio Web Log on how we should be calling him up, and WGN, FOX stations start keeping tabs on every performance and have Mark Giancubco doing live remotes from small towns in North Carolina, and shouldnt we be all buying McCarthy Jerseys and having Carol Cubby Sleazak asking us what his nickname should be, and having am670 devoting a whole evening show after he debuts, to his performance?? Nahhhhhhhh
