Was the guy who did the thing for Bob Casey, the announcer on the field, the guy who played the Announcer on Little Big League. That guy looks and sounded just like him

Casey remembered: Among the many pregame activities at the Twins home opener, the club paused to remember public address announcer Bob Casey, who died March 27 after a battle with liver cancer and pneumonia. Casey was the only PA man in the team's history.

To commemorate his career, the Twins retired uniform No. 44 -- for the number of seasons Casey worked for the club -- for the 2005 season. A video tribute was played on the scoreboard screens and Gov. Tim Pawlenty named the day in his honor. Casey's sons -- Mike, Tom and Joe -- threw out a ceremonial first pitch and took turns with PA duties.

New PA voice Bob Kurtz will begin his job Saturday. "Not taking away from anybody that's got the mic up there now, it's going to be different," Gardenhire said. "That's the first time [without Casey] and for everybody around this group, it's probably the same thing."

I think I know what you are talking about. That is John Gordon of the radio broadcast. I'm trying to find a decent picture online, but I can't seem to. Here is one:

Looks like him to me, IIRC. Of course, haven't seen that movie in a good long while.

I was watching the Sox telecast of that interminable opening day ceremony Friday night inside the BaggieDome. I was bored to tears watching this dope on the field blathering on and on and I couldn't figure out who he reminded me of.

Then I figured it out. He's the pregnant cop's old acquaintance now living in Eden Prairie from the movie Fargo!

"You a su-pa lady!"

Whoever it was on Saturday, I found him to be almost unintelligable most of the time. Although its a good bet the acoustics there aren't the greatest. It was my first visit to the dome so I don't know if Casey sounded any better.

Well we're talking about multiple people. John Gordon does the radio broadcasts only and was in Little Big League. He's got the distinctive voice, but doesn't do any of the onfield PA announcements.

Bob Casey's family will be doing the PA stuff. They've probably never done it before. Bob Casey was a little unintelligible at times.

That picture is really bad. I linked it from a local insurance company or something that REALLY had to stretch it's budget to find a "big name" celebrity. yeesh.

:gulp: Dont'cha know eh?
