Our departed Jose Valentin made an error in Tuesday night's Dodger game with the Giants and claimed that he "lost the ball in the chalk." That's a first! :D:

Has he ever used the "I lost it in my mustache" or "I got my glove tangled in my mustache" excuse?

How does he "explain" his 261 other career errors, his .950-something career FPCT, and his .216 AVE last year?

What is everyone's favorite Manos memory?

The 3 run homers were nice, but I liked the interviews with Boers and Bernstein where no one had no clue what he said. Anyone remember when he said something and he sounded like the roadrunner, and B&B kept playing it, it was hilarious

Walking off against the Cubs or scoring the winning run vs. the Yankees in 2000 off of H.Perry's single (they came back off Rivera).

The kissyfingers/point-to-the-sky Sham-ME* imitation at Wrigley in 2001 is my personal favorite, since I was there and sitting about 50 feet from him.

The walk off homer against the Cubs in 2003 (IIRC) was pretty sweet.

My favorite Manos memory is when he punked Corey Patterson last year to get the DP.

Crazy, he comes off the bench tonight to pinch hit, and caps off the comeback on the Zona bullpen with a 2 run game winning homer on an 0-2 pitch (and boy did he admire it and show his excitement, I wonder if they'll plunk him this weekend). I was watching it live on Extra Innings, and just had a feeling since he always has that late inning aura to him. I wonder how LA fans feel, it's like a rollercoaster. One day, his error costs you the game, the next day he wins you the game.

Yep, that was Jose alright. If only he were more consistent, the occaisional miscues could be overlooked. He did always have a knack with dropping an easy popup and costing us a run, and then taking one yard in the next frame... But when you add that all up, it balances out to 0, which is not a contribution.

Jose just ripped a two out two run home run in the 9th inning against the D'backs.

L.A. up 9-8.

It was Jose's single that scored Perry to win that game (http://retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B06230CHA2000.htm).

I was at that game too. Easily my favorite Valentin moment. The crowd was just electric.

Carlos Lee hit a Rivera hanger over the CF wall to tie that game,
setting up JV's shattered bat "duck snort".:D:

Was that the game-winner where it was a play at the plate and he slid in safely, then jumped up on his knees and pumped his fists in the air before falling back down? I was going nuts watching that. The walk-off does edge it slightly, though.
