I swear, baseball can be so exciting and suspensful most times. Yet, when guys like Rick White get thrown out onto the mound in close extra inning games, you can almost write the script the moment before it actually happens. I was up tonight (this morning) watching this thing and was juuuust about to call it quits when the Pirates put White onto the mound....

To be fair (having watched the game) it wasn't all his fault.

The leadoff hitter skewed one of the end of the bat that the Pirates shortstop had bounce off the tip of his glove when he dove to catch it.

The second hitter bounced a ground ball that had eyes between the 3rd baseman and shortstop.
