In response to your subject... my answer is he is going to pitch. As for how well he will pitch, hopefully good enough to let the brooms wave!

Win 5-4. Contreras gets a no decision, gives up 4 early and win goes to bullpen.

Contreras' numbers versus the Indians last season: 1-0 (should've been 2-0)14.2 IP, 11 H, 2 BB, 1.23 ERA, 15 K's, .204 BAA.
I'll have some fun and go 6.1 IP, 4 BB,3 H, 2 ER, 8 K's.

If he pitches in the same way tomorrow as he did against the Brewers last weekend...he should be alright

I say he looks pulls out a gem like his past two teammates in the rotation. 8.0 IP 2 BB 6 K 2 ER and then it's Shingo Time!
Wait a second while I flip the coin. Heads he's good , tails he's bad.
And the call is ....tails.
I'll do 2 out of 3
The second flip came up tails again.

Contreras is very unpredictable. I think he will go 6.2 with 4 ER, 2 BBs, and 5 K's. We hopefully will get to Lee tommorrow. I'll go with a 7-5 Sox winner and sweep of the Indians!

Contreras gets the W. 3 runs in 7 innings. Sox win 9-3.
7 IP, 2 ER.
Quality start leads to a win.:bandance:

Suck, like normal, would be my guess. I'll be happy if he can just keep us in the game and hopefully the offense will have a big game against Cliff Lee.

See Santo's post above.
Other than that, he doesn't suck "normally". He doesn't even suck on a regular basis. He sucks inconsitantly. He will be lights out 3 games, and get rocked in the 4th. Hopefully Santo sees this post, and will come with Contreras' stats from last year. I dont remember the specifics, but he had a few horrible starts, and was great the rest of the time.

3 ER in 6 IP. Rough outing working through some jams but in the end a "quality start."
Sox win.

I just hope he pitches well win or lose. It's very important for him to get off to a good start to the season from a mental standpoint. He seems to have a fragile pschye.
The key to the Sox seasons rests with the back three in the rotation.

In the spirit of overpredicting everything under the sun...
What? No pitch count prediction?
And how many of those pitches will be strikes?
THis guy does nothing but scare me. If he gets off to a good start, it might cler his head and he will use the talent he has...if he gets roughed up early, Norman Bates will take over
Let's put it this way. I have a dentist appointment at 1:15 today. I'm very afraid that by the time I get out to my car it will still be the top of the first inning.
Prove me wrong, Jose.

I will make no prediction. However with Cliff Lee and Contrearas pitching today, if I were a betting man I'd be taking the over in runs scored.
Both teams are looking to explode offensively after a combined 8 runs in two games.
