Santana is getting shelled in the first inning. 3-0 Seattle after a long double by Beltre and long double by Sexson.

BTW, who is the Twins radio announcer? He's great. Nice, old traditional voice with tons of passion. Gives you chills before each pitch.

4 runs. 1 out. Many concerned Twins fans.

Unreal. I don't think this happened at ALL in the second half of last season for Santana.

4 hits and a walk. Now 4-0 M's.

So who is the radio guy? The play-by-play guy?

Ibanez just stole second on a pick-off play.

I think Santana is unbelieveable. I also think he was pitching with such confidence last season that he pitched above his means.

Hopefully there are many more outings like tonight and it really shakes him up.

I think you're right in that he won't be as good as he was in the second half, but I still would think he'll win close to 20 (if they score for him) and have an ERA under 3. He is an awesome pitcher, which is why I'm trying to enjoy tonight as much as possible.

Why is Wilson Valdez starting for the Mariners?

Why is Wilson Valdez starting for the Mariners?

Pokey Reese and their SS prospect are both hurt and on the DL. THey had to scramble to get a SS. I'm sure his job will just be to catch the ball until Pokey gets back.

It's funny hearing the Twins announcers ask the crowd to come out and boo AJ Pierzynski for the home opener on Friday.

Twins announcer is john gordon. They also have herb carneal do home games with john gordon. I think dan gladden is the analyst

The Twinkees have loaded the bases with nobody out. Shannon Stewart at the plate. Two balls, two strikes. This could get ugly.

As I type this Shannon Stewart hit a grounder, one run scored. One out.

Four singles and the Twins just beating out a double play. This is the Twins team that I remember last year that really pissed me off on a constant basis.

elrod

4-2 now, with runners on first and second. Four singles in the inning. Mauer up.

Santana has settled down since the first inning, though his pitch count is high.

what's the score??????

4-3, first and third for Justin Morneau:(:

Here's the Twins luck that we've come to see over the years. Check swing single. 4-4 1 out.

Frankfan4life
04-05-2005, 11:48 PM
Can't believe it but the Twinks have tied the game on a check swing bloop hit. Men on first and second, still only one out.

MRKARNO

Well wouldnt you know, a check swing popup into right field just out of the reach of Ibanez's glove scores the game-tying run. :cuss:

They might play small ball, but they always seem to do it with the big inning.
5-4 game now in a 5 run inning with another single up the middle, but Reed threw out Morneau at third. 2 outs.

ChiSox7

8 hits in 1 inning. 7 runs. Unreal. I hate the Twins.

7-4, man Seattle sucks

Frankfan4life
04-05-2005, 11:51 PM
A five-run inning. But at least there are two outs now. Ninth batter at the plate, Jacque Jones. Now, he hits a two-run homer.

7-4 Twinkies :(:

MRKARNO
04-05-2005, 11:52 PM
Jacque homers and it's 7-4. I can't believe this. If that double play was turned, it's over. If that checkswing is caught, the inning would have been over. If Valdez had proper positioning on another single, the inning is over. HOW THE HELL DO THEY DO THIS? How can this be explained?

I hate Twins big innings.

elrod
04-05-2005, 11:52 PM
Jacque Jones went deep. 7-4 Twins now. First solid hit of the inning. You have to hand it to them. They hit when they need to.

If it makes anyone feel better, Sexson and Beltre still have 2 more at bats each guarenteed.

Haha. No it doesn't. If the past is any indication, Santana will finish the game without giving up another hit.

I hate Twins big innings. One explanation is that they put the ball in play. No strike outs in that inning. It was like they were on a mission once a man got on base. Boy, I hope the Sox hit like that this year and I hope they're watching this game.

J Reed is taking so many pitches. THis is like Frank vs. Darrel May last year when he took 19 pitches. Except, Reed struck out and Frank got walked.

Reed, Valdez, and Olivo each have a .000 BA this year.
I guess KW really got screwed on the deal. Freddy Garcia is going to suck and Reed will be an all star. Olivo is the next Pudge Rodriquez

I was worried about them doing this, but couldn't resist the comment and I thought Meche had it under control :( Damn Twinkies, I do take the blame though, now let's talk about how no one scares me in the Mariner lineup ;)

ChiSox7
04-06-2005, 12:28 AM
Well, with Radke, Santana and Silva pitching against the M's with the crappy M's pitching (especially bullpen), I figured there was a very good chance that Minny would sweep Seattle. If they were to somehow win tomorrow and take 2/3 I would be overjoyed. They just needed to win 1. Thank goodness they did that. I never, ever thought they would lose the game tonight.

Of course, it's way too early to even worry about any of that. Every Twins loss counts though. BTW, i hate the Twins.

Haha. It'll be next to impossible to get 4 off of Rincon and Nathan. Might as well try to save up the runs for tomorrow.

That's already one win the Twins stole from the jaws of defeat and probably more where that came from. Nothing's changed. The season's over.

Can we make a new rule for this year in that NOBODY starts a thread about the Twinkies game until the game is OVER?!?

Every single time somebody started a thread last year while they were losing they would come back and win the damn game.

Just think of it like not mentioning a no-hitter while it's going on...

I must admit, it was hilarious watching mlb boards yesterday. After one inning unknowledgeable people were talking about how Santana was overrated, how the Twins were getting too many props and so on and so forth, and yadda yadda yadda. Then, the Twins put up that seven spot and everybody shut up. Maybe now they understand our pain.

It's so stupid. Yeah, I'm sure Santana never gave up a three run homer last year...

But if it happens right out of the gate, it's gonna be blown way out of prop.
