You gotta checkout this strange ad campaign thing the D-Rays have on their website. It features a press conference, introduced by Dave Wills, and involves their mascot talking smack to the Blue Jays mascot, who they play on opening day. It ends in fistacuffs with some old men singing "Take me out to the ballgame." :?:
Just all over the place. Brooks, dont do this.

Their marketing department must be on crack! I wish I could have seen Willsy's face when he read that script. He must feel like he's in the Twilight Zone down there.

I think Ray is Southpaw's brother, but from a different father.

Wow...both of their logos are very similar! It looks like the "Rays vs Rays" :?:. For the sake of not embarrassing themselves with that commercial, I hope the Devil Rays win on Monday.

I liked how they're font of "Rays v. Jays" looked like the Iron Maiden logo.

:gallas "Hey, that ad was my idea!"

Toronto-Tampa: the forgotten blood rivalry of the AL East.

It's true that a majority of the people in Canada are burly, white, raspy francophone lumberjacks. In fact, I look and sound just like Monsieur LaFleur, eh?

"Hé Monique! Prenez-moi poutine et Cinquante, ma belle!"

Wow. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't completely freaked out right now.

On the plus side...Good to see Dave....

It was bizarre, but I thought rather amusing. I am sure Willsy took it in stride and probably had a good time with it.

They're giving out free tickets and hamburgers to everyone there on opening day? Wow. There could be hundreds of them!

Turns out, Tampa mustered a grand total of 26,018 to its season opener. And they lost. Don't mess with Toronto.

I thought it was pretty funny. I emailed Dave about it and said, "You do realize you were playing Mean Gene Okerlund, right?" It reminded me of every event ever used to hype a boxing title fight or big wrestling "match."
