View Full Version : A call for Sox Army!

I didn't see this any where else.

The Chicago Tribune is doing a on-line polling contest for the Ultimate Chicagoan. This weekend is Athletes bracket and we have Frank Thomas, number 1 seed facing Kerry Wood 8th seed. Right now Kerry Wood is winning by about 200 votes. Sox Army can not allow Frank to lose to Kerry.

Also Mark Buehrle 7 is trying to upset the second seed Brian Urlacher.

Polling closes at 10pm Sunday

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/custom/redeye/chi-ultimate-story.story?vote16822219=1 Is the trib polling still vulnerable? This really shouldn't be too hard to accomplish although I thought we pretty much ruined any validity trib polls may have had with our performance last year. I remember laughing my ass off for awhile over those threads.

the main problem is that "somehow", every bracket manages to have a Flubs player. who the hell owns that damn North-side team anyway? why is this so biased? if only my ignorance were real. then i wouldnt have to live my life actually knowing the answer.

Hmmm...for a Cubune article, it seemed pretty down on the sCrUBS (Wood's best years "supposedly" ahead of him, Prior's got to prove he's not a one-year wonder, Mr. Blue Hands will get you if you vote for Maddux), and had some nice things to say about the Sox (mentioned Frank's MVPs and called Beuhrle the "best pitcher in Chicago"). Not that I'm complaining, but it's weird...:unsure:

If it wasn't for this info, I'd have only voted once. With this knowledge, I'm not leaving my pc until Hurt has the lead.

Though I'm still voting for him out of principle, unless the Sox Army gets more recruitment, I don't see Buehrle winning over Urlacher.

edit: Where's the Sox Army cavalry? Giddy up boys, us men holding the front lines could use some relief. :smile:

I've vote about 10 times in a under a minute (Thomas - McNabb - Brown - Mark Anthony).

All the Non-Cubs are winning. You think the Trib will close the poll down because none of their boys made it? Or will they realize something is wrong and just not acknowledge the winner? Speaking of the winner, who the hell will we vote for if it's Thomas vs. Buehrle? I say we break the votes down the middle and have the final look something like this;

Thomas 50.0% (2,000 votes)
Buehrle 50.0% (2,000 votes)

hahah, that would be awesome.

In case anyone's interested in voting in the other brackets:

I've already established in my earlier post that all of the remaining actors are sCrUBS fans, so screw 'em. In the political bracket, we've got Da Mayor - whether or not you agree with his politics, he's a die-hard Sox fan. Plus, our governor is your typical uninformed Cubs fan (said on M&M the other morning that Soldiers Field should get a Super Bowl). In the musician bracket I'm stumped: I know Billy Corgan roots for the Cubs, but of the others I'm not sure. Patbooyah has Kanye West in his sig - does that mean Kanye's a Sox fan?:dunno:

Good question, but even if West is a Cubs fan--I think he grew up on the South Side--I'd vote for him over Corgan by default. West never wrote an anti-White Sox song that he sang at the curse-breaking explosion of the Bartman ball. West never did season-long Cubbie updates on XRT. My vote will be for West.
