Ticket sales for the Baltimore Orioles have declined 17 percent from a year ago, a drop that the club officials attribute primarily to the arrival of the Washington Nationals in the District.

*Orioles officials said yesterday that the club has sold 1.5 million tickets for this season, down from 1.8 million at a similar point in 2004. The Nationals have sold more than 1.85 million tickets without the aid of promotions and giveaway schedules.

Sheesh. The team hasn't been competitive for 7 or 8 years, who could blame their fans for bailing. Maybe the competition will be a good thing for them.

How can ANY ballclub function in a two-team market? It's just not possible!
Give me a break. Welcome to our world, Angelos. You think this is bad...try 104 years of it.

Exactly! Angelos turned the once-proud Oriole franchise into a pile of crap. Granted they compete with the Yanks and Red Sox, but when was the last time this team was competitive??? He's taken a page from JR's former strategy that slugging the ball wins and screw the pitching. When will he learn that fans will not turn out anymore because of Camden?

Quit whining about the Gnats and put a WINNING team on the field!

Move the Orioles to Indianapolis, ala the Colts. Rename them the Clowns, in part due to the history of the name, in part because they have a number of Clowns on the team already::party: Sosa, Palmiero, Ponson.

It's a lot of whining, but the Gnats do have something to do with this, maybe not all 17%, but it will certainly make an impact.

If Angelos doesn't like it, he might want to consider hiring a baseball guy to make better personnel decisions. They can start with a new pitching staff.

If you win, they will come.
